@Dlrannie I'd left before the Mars bars hit the deep fryers and I'm OK with that! As for Glasgow's contribution to the culinary arts there's also the 'tuppeny pie' known hereabouts as the Scotch pie, and increasingly hard to find.

In contrast to all of which: Some of the most enjoyable breakfasts I ever had were simply plenty of fresh, buttered croissants and strong french coffee. As a handful of teenage schoolboys we kept the waitress running out to the patisserie a few doors down the street, for more supplies.
