Banks are closing every day here. I've moved branch and brand as ones I worked at closed.
We do cash transactions but there are limits etc.
Cheques are still a common reason people come in but often I tell them they could use the app and then simply didn't know.

I do most of mine online so maybe part of the reason branches close...but to drive into town , park then queue its easier online....

The few that remain provide a full range of services . . banks in the UK are fairly compliant following the huge bail-outs they received from the tsxpayer in 2007-8. Post Office counters provide physical services on behalf of most banks. I have never heard of a fee to make a transaction over the counter.

There are none left in our town. There were four banks when we moved here 11 years ago. I think the nearest is 10 miles away.

I maintain an account with one local physical bank as well as an internet bank. The branch is handy to deposit cash when necessary. But transfers each way between banks can be done on line..😷

In western Canada the phyisical branches of most banks do exist.
I am aware of one credit union that charges $5 for transactions with a teller that you could do at the ATM.
There are at least 2 banks that are almost branchless, in that everything is DIY on line.

I live in a county in Alabama with a population of over 100,000. There are branch banks everywhere. Two new ones have opened this year within two miles of my house.

Digital banking is the beginning of you allowing the government to freeze and/steel your money. They can also monitor what you purchase.
Cash is king and untraceable.

There are a dwindling few and you still have to go through the drive window
