Children find different names for their grandparents. So long as your dad is happy, that's fine. It seems a respectful name to me 🙂

I had a friend whose grandchildren called him Dude. 🤷🏻‍♀ Everyone is different.

your son learn that from someone. Your Grandfather must have started it . I see nothing wrong with it. It does show respect towards your GF
