Your 16 year old son slaps you across the face during an argument. How would you react ?

I can’t imagine. We don’t argue. Sometimes he bumps into me as a joke, that’s about it.

I can’t imagine this boy ever doing such a thing. He is well known at school for being caring & helpful. Yes he can argue (usually about trivial things more like a circular debate) around at home but never violent, hasn’t slammed a door or torn anything up or done anything violent.

@Nimbus It’s something natural with him too. He will come & ask me if I need anything after dinner when I sit down to rest. He’ll do it before he goes to bed too. Always asking if I need help….which I do now with lifting cases of water or other heavy things and he is eager to help.

It's too bad that some view this Q as a joke.
It's a realty for some people.

The second side of the story is irrespective of how one, the custodial parent raised their child, if the child has access to the other parent, well, then it opens up the doors for potential peril.

One excellent parent can only do so much.
You're just got lucky, nothing more.

My sons would never do that. None of them are physically aggressive. They don’t even physically fight one another

@Jenny1234 one of my oldest friends was used to being disciplined by his father thusly. If he did anything that displeased the father, good old dad would hit him with a closed fist, hard. One day, when my 6’3” friend was about 18 years-old dear old dad got pissed about something and took a swing at his son.

Dad picked himself up and never had much more to say to his son.
