The band leader is Wallace Hartley - he is the middle picture. I learned about him when I researched this song and wanted to find out what it was about:

@SW-User Survivors reported that the band's last number was Nearer, My God, to Thee.

My great grandma's cousin, and some other relatives, died on the Titanic. About half his group survived, they boarded the ship in Cherbourg. They were all traveling in 3rd class.
@Northwest WHAT!! No waaayy im sorry that happened :( thats so epic thou thanks for the vid NW thats helpful af <3

That part of the movie is the part that always stayed with me and my favorite part of the Titanic Museum is the part about the musicians

omffff theres a museum? Thats so cool

It's somewhere in Missouri. On my bucket list. I would like to see the manifest and the names on the manifest, to see if I can connect them to my great grandma who settled in Missouri.
@Northwest it's really a very interesting experience. I recommend going. Take your time and thoroughly go through the stations. People were rushing too quickly
To be fair.. they weren’t letting doods on lifeboats 🤓

{@tryingtolava] very brave and courageous people who calmly played on and never feared imminent death
@smiler2012 i wish musicians were like them now :(

@TryingtoLava I think in that kind of situation, many of us would be (and not just musicians).

We all live (in the west at least) such sheltered and pleasant lives (if not very rich ones) that it never comes into play these days.
@Lhayezee youre right lhaye times changed

Yea, sad to know that they died doing what they loved doing, in a mix of chaos. These musicians are truly an inspiration.

James Cameron went full OCD on this production, at every point. He even tracked down the company who made the rugs on the original ship(!!). He got Panavision to make cameras that could withstand the pressure to film the real Titanic at the bottom of the ocean(actually, they offered to, but still). And, if you don't have the letterboxed version, he reframed almost every shot for home video(won't bore you to death with how/why).

@TryingtoLava Not a great value compared to streaming.

uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@TryingtoLava No, I mean 15 bucks for a movie versus d/l. I plan on obtaining a lot of things unavailable on physical media this way.
@MrBrownstone :) its sad but passionate af
