James Cameron went full OCD on this production, at every point. He even tracked down the company who made the rugs on the original ship(!!). He got Panavision to make cameras that could withstand the pressure to film the real Titanic at the bottom of the ocean(actually, they offered to, but still). And, if you don't have the letterboxed version, he reframed almost every shot for home video(won't bore you to death with how/why).

@TryingtoLava I saw Titanic at the movies in 5.1 surround and it was an awesome experience. The plot is kinda paint-by-numbers dopey, but this film benefitted from being about a real event. I, my girlfriend, and everyone else left the theatre misty. It's hard not to when they do that dissolve to the real ship. 😢 Felt like we were exiting a wake.
There's two versions of the Celine Dion track, and I'm pretty sure the one we all know she sang in one pass. F**k. I mean, I dislike Celine's music, but to nail a song like that in one try.....mad respect.
