There was parental neglect then and it still exists. I was walking the dog two days ago when I saw two little girls, probably 4 or 5 years old, in the playground. They left and walked ahead of us to the pond, which is about two acres of water lilies, bogs, and snakes. They were playing on the fishing pier when I got there. Not an adult in sight. Fortunately, the water is only about two feet deep because of the drought, but still.... Finally, they walked down the trail and turned toward the houses one street over. I realize our neighborhood is fairly safe, but I wonder if the parents even knew where the girls were.

And kids turned out better. I am a product of that era and raised my kids 5 boys and 1 girl the same way. They all ended up having good jobs making more a lot of money have kids of their own and great wives and a husband.

Different time periods and cultures have different ways of doing things.
Go back 100 years ago and women in the US couldn't vote. A little further back they couldnt own property.

I know girls in their 20's who are still regularly spanked at home by their parents so it still exists today. Corporal punishment isn't as common as it used to be but it still happens more than it should

The soft parents that followed in the 80's and 90's proved the older stricter folks did a better job of parenting................just look at what we have today.

Yes it was my sister and myself got the belt a lot but mostly the hair brush on our bare bottoms
