My dad was. He had a very abusive personality and enjoyed hurting others. He picked on everyone mercilessly but he was just charming and funny enough to get away with it. He left me very empty with a horrifying fear of abandonment. I think I push every one away and never settle because I'm just waiting for everything to go away in an instant. I never feel safe.
@MarbleMarvel sounds familiar
Yes. I was the family scapegoat. My sister was idealized.

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays sis was the golden child.

No. I had the best parents in the world. My Dad was a pilot for FedEx and my Mom was a housewife. She taught Sunday school at the Southern Baptist Church.
They never spoke bad about anyone and my Mom did lots of volunteer work. Everyone liked them and they were very much in love with each other. They met in middle school and had always only dated each other.

Oh I'm a Gen.X. kid.
We pretty much much raised ourselves !
Our parents were folks who met, probably through work.
Moved in together....or rather, moved OUT from the claustrophobic family home just to assert their independence.
Got married ('cause that's what was expected of you back then) then each worked while we got ourselves sorted for school.
Then we wouldn't see each other again until they came home after work.

Yes. My mom always thinking she was right and that she could do no wrong. Making me feel that I was not good enough, but she was the one that mattered….

One, my Dad.
- Made me an over perfectionist. Everything needed to be done at 120%
- Picked the wrong partner.
- Made me take a good long hard look at myself, get real and change my deal.
Life is too short for that shit.

No,I wasn't.

No I don't think so. I typically try not to label people narcissists unless they have been clinically diagnosed by a professional. And the percentage for that is very low.

No, I just see some traits of OCD and OCPD. If not that, then definitely something on the anxious side.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
Actually, I was a quasi-narcissistic child raised by non-narcissistic parents.
