Reason why is you need that post puberty when you do alot of back packing, the sweat buildup is bad with traditional underwear, and if you have hair on your inner thighs the co stant motion can cause them to entangle in tught little knots that start to pull at the flesh, and you either gotta pull them all out in one painful pull, or cut them.

So once puberty hits switch them over.
