Interview a thousand people and show a supercut of the dozen stupid ones. Simple.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@sylvivresavie Please watch a few of them, I think you will change your mind and say
HOLY SHlT! How did kids get so dim.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@DogMan Someone's gotta find the generation that raised them and sort those old fuckers out!
DogMan · 61-69, M
@CountScrofula Millennials raised Gen Z Gen X raised Millennials Boomers raised Gen X

My wife is a teacher .. the stories she tells of inability of kids that age and younger to think, to learn basic stuff .. is scary as hell. A dysfunctional tidal wave is coming.
@DogMan Your Dad went through a lot of hell, my Grandfather enlisted in the Army Air Corp the day after he turned 18 on January 2, 1944, he was in training in Biloxi, Mississippi, to become a bomber mechanic. He was on a transport to Japan in August 1945 when Fat Man and Little Boy were dropped.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Wow! that's great. My dad tried to join the Army Air Corp right after
pearl harbor, but they refused him because he was colorblind. So while he was trying
to figure out what to do, he got drafted into the 88th Infantry. You are right, he did go
through hell. He was a normal guy during his waking hours, but had nightmares off
and on throughout his life, even while in hospice. I wrote about his time before and during the Italian campaign after a lot of research into his unit. I also coerced stories out of him over the years. After I went into the Military, he felt I should know some things.

I have given copies of it to friends and family. The Germans called his unit
The Blue Devils. They were one of the only Divisions that never lost a battle.

Sorry, I could go on and on. Very interesting stuff.
@DogMan Oh wow, have you thought about writing a book about them with the permission from the others or their survivors? It would be a major bestseller with the military history buffs.
I guarantee you could do this with people of any generation.
you're absolutely correct. some of the "kids" we hire at work are complete duds. i feel sorry for their generation. on another note there are brilliant young people out there, but like you said the percentage between the duds and brilliant people is too great.
@DogMan Yep, when the modern military has alienated the youth so much that enlistment is the lowest since Vietnam, they lower their standards and alienate the regular youth even more 🙄🤦‍♀️
DogMan · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Very sad. I have an analogy about it. We used to go to this bar
and drink and play pool, it was a very busy place. Then it was bought and turned into
a gay bar, it soon went out of business. I guess they thought we would keep going
there. 🙄
@DogMan Indeed, a local church here in Mason City now has a huge banner up that shows they invite the lgbtq to their services, which is in severe violation of orthodox church and biblical policy.
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
It's a sign of the end of times
@deadgerbil I think you have it confused with ya butt.

@jshm2 With coding, maybe, with politics, they're egregiously brainwashed by leftist ideaology.
@jshm2 As for "oldies" refusing to learn computers, my Grandfather would have been 97 this year, he was a pioneer with TurboC++ back in the day, built his own Heathkit computer in the 70's, he had one of the first Brother portable computers that looked like a small suitcase in the 80's. You had better learn to think twice before disrespecting your Elders.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@jshm2 That's total B.S. These kids know nothing, and care nothing about politics,
they don't even know who the vice president is.
A few might know about coding, but mostly they know about Video games, music, etc..
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I think it's easy to write off a generation based on nothing more than a popular series of videos designed to acquire likes; hearts and comments which can then be converted to advertising revenue when they produce the next one !
Ask yourself who's being played here ?

Can't say that I've seen or heard Teachers bitterly complain that they're being asked to teach nonsense.
Can you ?

Not that it's pertinently connected but it does beg the question why certain online stuff is specifically created and targeted at youngsters and why it isolates so many.
You can tell that by their postings.
Even on here
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 Every video since the beginning of videos, has had a target audience,
and every video, TV show, even news shows are about advertising and money.
So I guess that everyone who has ever watched a video, is "Being Played" right?

As far as teachers, there are teachers that complain about what is being
taught, but most do as their told, since they do not create the curriculum.
Archetype · 26-30
Probably because they don't feel the need to learn as they can just ask their phone anything. I find it weird that with so much information at their fingertips they don't bother to retain any of it. I'm only 27 but I read a lot.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@JaggedLittlePill Check it out.
Archetype · 26-30
@JaggedLittlePill No, I just know a lot of people my age that do not know basic things like how to read a clock (they can only tell digital time), if you ask them simple questions like who is the prime minister they'd probably say Boris Johnson or something like that. A lot people I know my age or just a few years younger legitimately don't know the answer to basic questions.

They could tell you anything about certain anime series and some of them could probably fix your computer.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Archetype Most cannot read Cursive. 😧

When it comes to the question of how many moons the earth have, the answer can vary a lot bc of the british series QI. They've had that question a plethora of times, and always came up with a new answer according to the latest research.

Also, when watching videos like that, keep in mind they only show the ignorant ones. The ones who actually know the answers aren't "entertaining" enough to make the cut.
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
People have been making videos like that for decades.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
I've seen these videos and the answers are what I thought was common knowledge. I just tell myself the editors cherry picked through the interviews and edited out the correct answers... I hope
AngelJade · 22-25, F
I'm pretty sure the earth has around nearly 8 billion moons, if everyone drops their pants and bends over to moon everyone.

Although us Gen Z people do have issues staying at a job more than a week, on average it seems.
the most important thing is..
they know what toilet to use and climate change...
DogMan · 61-69, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Correct, and also know who to blame for their misfortunes.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
Alessa · 22-25, F
I know there is only one moon, I don't know anyone who doesn't.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@Alessa You would be surprised. It seems that Gen Z is also very easily confused. This is why
they will not be able to retain this country. China will confuse the shlt out of them and they will
shrug and say, "OK" Thank God I will be long gone.
None,the moon's have the earth
666Maggotz · F
You do know they Cherry pick which people they show to rage bait people, right?
I saw a few videos where a guy asks "name three countries in Europe?" Most of the American kids failed to answer. I could not believe. Since when I was little I knew about many countries through map.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@littlepuppywantanewlife it would make much more sense if we also knew how many did answer correctly
SW-User
Probably has more to do with the shorthand world we're in. Not enough real contact anymore. Video, texting, apps, social media.
Reality is no longer important to such people. Reality is boring. Not only did they not know about things, they do not care that they do not know. Worse they would rather not know. Ignorance is bliss it seems
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
I've seen some of those videos. I don't think we have to worry about those kids running anything!
Keeper · M
It's more about "feel" than action, knowledge or expectation.
DogMan · 61-69, M
They could all answer 2+2, but ask them what 7+7+7 totals ????
SW-User
The education system will always be flawed. It's on parents to teach their children.
kodiac · 22-25, M
But they can fix your computer in the blink of an eye
ArtieKat · M
Sadly it is the same in the UK.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Putting someone on the spot in front of a camera is generally guaranteed to make peoples' brains freeze, irrespective of age, so not a great scientific measure.

The kids are doing just fine 😌 It's my generation that has f***ed it all up for them with poor numeracy and lack of basic logic.
Convivial · 26-30, F
I agree... There's seems to be a basic dumbing down in progress
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
I'm sure they have to go through a lot of people before before they find one dumb enough to put on camera. Still I wonder "how Many" are that uneducated at a very basic level.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Have you ever seen them interview Boomers?

I am sure you can come to the same conclusion: education failed them.

But the truth is...educatiom is far better today than it was when boomers went to school.

Every generation has idiots who failed to educate themselves beyond what was taught in a classroom.

The interent full of false informatiom and isolated ideologies that wouldn't otherwise be mainstream and prevalent only serves to exasterbate this phenomenon and dumb down the masses.

Them & the millenials were raised like Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy...they know a lot of stuff....it's just that it's a lot of useless information.
Even in politics today, you can tell whuch office holders, regardless of party affiliation, went to public schools compared to private schools.
@DogMan You're one of the fortunate ones, the same classmates from K-12, I went to nine different schools, so school spirit and loyalty was foreign to me. That was a major responsibility. When I attempted to enlist in 1990 with the US Army I chose Armorer, the SSG was trying to push me into either EOD or Sniper, I said nope, I wanted Armorer, and told the Recruiter that it had to do with my last name, when he caught on he just laughed. When I went in for my physical I was immediately designated 4F because a double compound fracture in my lower left leg had to be surgically repaired when I was 12 in 1982.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Oh that's a bummer. I'm sure you still could have done the job.
@DogMan They were afraid I'd rebreak my leg during basic, making me eligible for lifelong disability on a section 8.
