No. They just used a cricket bat.

Definitely no. I remember how my grandmother used to accuse my aunt (uncle's wife not our immediate family) of doing that and looked down on her. I have no idea if it was true or based on anything but the fact is that in our family, there was a belief that stuff like this could damage a child's brain so I doubt anybody in our family had done that.
On the other hand, we were drinking black tea from the early age as the staple drink every day and I wonder if this wasn't the reason I developed anxiety. 😬

@CrazyMusicLover my pont exactly, btw, so does chocolate!
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@samueltyler2 Yup, black tea and dark cocoa powder are a terrible combination. For the nervous system and for digestion. It even triggers migrains for my brother. I mean, especially dark/milk chocolate on empty stomach.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@CrazyMusicLover we have treated many pets fir overdoses of chocolate. One small poodle suffered convulsions.

No. They just told me to go to bed, and if I got out of bed, I got my ass whooped.

My parents would often make me a whiskey, honey and lemon shot so I’d relax and my frequent bronchitis would subside
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
There was no such thing. My uncle and aunt did use "sedadrops" to help my cousins.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Alexa98 yes, even then though, i thought it a bit extreme.
Alexa98 · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 feel like i have to have kids to judge
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Alexa98 not really, in my opinion using medication to sedate a child to get them to sleep is rarely a good idea. I was a pediatrician and father of 3!

The way our mother put us to bed—so calm and effortless—still stays with me. We were never the kind to trouble her. Discipline was instilled in us from a young age.
nevergiveup · 61-69, M
Its not something i would ever do to my 4 kids but bed times was a pain sometimes if they did not want to sleep. Mostly a smack on the bottom kept them in bed
FlowersInHerHair · 56-60, F
My dad would give me a shot of whiskey. Knocked me out cold.
Alexa98 · 26-30, F
@FlowersInHerHair was too honest of him!
nevergiveup · 61-69, M
