Even worse, a sister of mine gave away everything to strangers that she didn’t want. Now if that isn’t hateful & spiteful I don’t know what is. She got caught giving things to nursing home employees which was likely illegal for them to take that stuff.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti It is illegal and they aren't supposed to accept it.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Adrift yes I heard that. And you know what? When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 I made up my mind not to let her or my other sister know about it. After my hair fell out and I had to wear hats etc. I drove to the next city to shop, or ordered groceries online and picked them up or had them delivered. That’s how strong I feel about them knowing, and to prevent them from coming around to exploit me or anyone else to get what they want from anything I’ve left behind. They both can make any bad situation worse.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MellyMel22 There were some sentimental things, nothing expensive, that I would have loved to have had. A cookbook from a church in the tiny village where my grandparents had lived. It wasn’t just the recipes but the names of the villagers who had contributed those recipes. She likely threw it in the trash. She has no heart for anything sentimental like that. It would have been such a nice memory for me because we knew most of the people and they were so genteel. I have forgotten the names of many of those people.

Blondily · F
So sorry you didn't get what was promised to you.
My grandfather gave me a pic of him as a toddler. It was a professional picture of him with his two brothers. Later on, it had been stolen by my aunt when she stayed with us but my mom and I couldn't prove it. My grandpa gave it to me and it hurts knowing Ill never see it again.
4meAndyou · F
No, nothing like a personal possession. It was the management of my grandfather's money that was heavily criticized after his death. One of my Aunts and my Uncle lived right down the street from his farm, and because they LIVED there, 90% of the responsibility for his care, and the execution of his will fell to them.

My cousin, Chuck, did NOT live in the same state, but disputed his portion of the inheritance in a horribly rude way, accusing my Aunt and Uncle of cheating everyone else.

I don't know what happens to people when there is a death. It's NOT good.
Boeing · 36-40
I'm glad you fought for it and I'm glad you got to keep it ...and I'm sorry you had to have this argument.
MellyMel22 · F
@Boeing Thank you. I was glad my cousin was honest about it.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@MellyMel22 I have cut off all ties with a sister.
I figure if the relationship didn't mean enough to her not to cross certain lines, than it shouldn't mean enough for her to miss it.
I hope she enjoys her stuff and the way she got it.
MellyMel22 · F
@Adrift Yeah, she doesn’t deserve your time.
Ferric67 · M
Yes
I have a couple of family members like that

My feeling
They can keep all of it
I'm making my way, and they will never sniff any of it
I'll gladly help anyone who is gracious and kind
MellyMel22 · F
@Ferric67 Def smart.
Ferric67 · M
@MellyMel22 the best revenge is for them to know that you earned much more without anything binding you to them

And if they have the audacity to come and ask....it's always a hard no
MellyMel22 · F
@Ferric67 Def a no!!
TurtlePink · 51-55, M
My mom totally sabotaged my aunt (her sister in law) and left her and her kids on the streets. Knowing that her husband (her kid’s father) passed away a year prior.

My aunt was supposed to get money too after my grandparents died but since her husband (who is my grandparent’s son) since he died apparently my aunt wasn’t supposed to get anything.

But here’s the thing what about their sons? Their sons are entitled to some of the money too because even though their dad died, they are still relatives of my grandparents. Yet they got NOTHING!!!! NOTHING!!!!!!! There was a bunch of guns that my cousin was supposed to have, and land. The land that they lived on my grandpparents owned, and my mom sold it because she’s a bi!tch!!

She’s an evil woman and I think that’s why I’m crazy because of what I went through growing up. The stuff that she put me through. the uncalled for stuff that she did to me she would do to her own nieces and nephews in a heartbeat right after their father died.

You know it’s so funny even her attorney had to remind her that their father died. Her attorney even had to jump in and say imagine losing your father/husband. HER OWN FUKIN ATTORNEY HAD TO SAY THAT!!! Because she knew my mom was nuts and has no hearts. I mean usually the attorney is always on your side defending you 🤣🤣 but again she even knew that that the situation wasn’t fair
TurtlePink · 51-55, M
@TurtlePink and I just don’t understand why you would ever want to make enemies like that. I mean, if you don’t want to give them the full amount, at least give them something so that they don’t have to live in their car after everything they’ve been through. But she’s just a selfish evil woman. And that’s why a lot of people don’t like her.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
Yes i have, my younger brother lied to my parents(didnt find out til after they died) and said false things about my older brother and me so we were taken out of the will. He kept everything to himself including some of our stuff and a million dollar home.
MellyMel22 · F
@ronisme1 Sorry to hear that 😔
Convivial · 26-30, F
Long story short...a close friend of mine from school days had an issue when a rich aunt died and the family was squabbling over the estate and couldn't reach a decision... They all decided to let an aunt from the USA come over to help decide who got what..... In short, the USA aunty absconded with the lot lol
MellyMel22 · F
@Convivial That's craZy!
Convivial · 26-30, F
@MellyMel22 yup.... A good lesson in greed
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
My aunt gave away millions in cash and property that was earmarked for my family, particularly my brother and I. It was given away to strangers to spite us.

I never had a single argument with her.

My grandparents are rolling in their graves.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@uncalled4 so spiteful of her. Just like my sister. The things she gave away or destroyed that bothered me the most was handmade items, there was a collection of embroidery that I had started doing from the time I was 5 years old. She was jealous of me doing that, sewing and crafting and probably threw every single thing away that I ever made.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@uncalled4 Yes my sister is too. She got a big kick out of spiting us.
exexec · 70-79, C
We had several greedy family members on my wife's and my sides of the family, but we chose not to get involved. Fortunately, our brothers and sisters were not the greedy ones.
MellyMel22 · F
@exexec Oh wow. Sorry to hear that.
exexec · 70-79, C
@MellyMel22 Thanks. It was okay. We let them fight over the millions.
You're so cute and I'm glad you got that pretty painting you were promised. 💜
MellyMel22 · F
@SinlessOnslaught Thsnk youuuu
Punxi · F
Unfortunately they say money is often thicker than blood.

Good for you.

Great picture.

🩷
MellyMel22 · F
@Punxi Def seems that way! Thank you 🤍
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
My grandfather he had old timers. Maybe your grandmother was confused and thought she was u
MellyMel22 · F
@smileylovesgaming I was the only person who didn’t catch her at some point unsure of who I was except a brief few seconds once. Soon as I said, gram- do you know who I am? I’m your fav granddaughter! She called my name right away. But even her own children it happened a lot with. It’s so sad when it happens to anyone 😔
Not directly. My dad stole his late brother's house which was supposed to go to their parents. That's a pretty big one, but not a direct one
MellyMel22 · F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Idk how people like this live with themselves.
@MellyMel22 ya take the bad with the good. Sure you'll ruin your relationship with your parents and strain things with the rest of the family, but who thinks of that when there's a score to be made?
MellyMel22 · F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP It’s all so crazy.
Adrift · 61-69, F
I learned pretty early that you learn alot about who people really are after somebody close to you dies.
MellyMel22 · F
@Adrift That’s been my experience too!
YoMomma ·
my mom took all my stuff while i was still alive and her family took hers.. guess thats why im not close to them 😒
MellyMel22 · F
@YoMomma Whats wrong with them all?! I’m sorry 😔
YoMomma ·
@MellyMel22 idk some people are just selfish and inconsiderate and disrespectful i guess 🤐😳
Wallflow3r · 31-35, F
I love this picture
MellyMel22 · F
@Wallflow3r Thank you 🤍🤣
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
Yes I have dealt with someone like that but damn if you didn't handle it way more savage than I did.
MellyMel22 · F
@SpectralMourning Its sentimental 🥺
SpectralMourning · 41-45, M
@MellyMel22 I get it...you were totally in the right to stand up for it. And even almost adorable in the way you rubbed it in her face.
MellyMel22 · F
@SpectralMourning Thank you 🤭
Selah ·
Vultures come out when people die. . It's so crazy...something no one could have prepared me for.
MellyMel22 · F
@Selah I believe it.
Family 🙄

Alls well that ends well
MellyMel22 · F
@Ghostinthemachine She was the Aunt by marriage who was my fav too growing up 😠
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Ghostinthemachine Family is the worst.
Don't believe me? Ask Marvin Gaye.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
Do not presume to know someone until you have shared an inheritance
Voltaire

Where there's a will, there's a relative.
empanadas · 31-35, M
Bruh im dealing that with land and businesses. It's wild that people who dont see on holidays nor even have the same last name as you trying to pretend they should get a piece of inheritance for merely saying hi to the relative that passed away. People annoy me when it comes to money
MellyMel22 · F
@empanadas Thats really screwed up! So many do.

The funny thing is that it seemed to be a lie about the pic being worth money b/c my dad was working on his will. It was like she wanted him to think I was set up and didn’t need whatever it was he was leaving me so that he could give it to her son or the others. She hates me b/c I was raised closest to him.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@MellyMel22 but it's wild, thats your dad. She is just an aunt. Like this is what annoys me. Make your own money instead taking of advantage
MellyMel22 · F
@empanadas I agree! It’s messed up.
Pretzel · 70-79, M
That would be worth fighting for

Even if it wasn't worth a dime !
MellyMel22 · F
@Pretzel The crazy thing is it was my dad’s wife who made a huge deal about it and right when my dad was doing his will 😒 I don’t think it’s worth much if anything. I don’t care though b/c even that brief moment of it being possibly worth over $40,000, I said I’d never sell it. It’s too sentimental to me.
Money does that to people
MellyMel22 · F
@TheDeathOCuHullainn Its sickening.
Musicman · 61-69, M
That is so sad. ☹ I hope it stays Civil and everyone remains friendly.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22 At least you got your painting. 😊 Does everyone still talk and get along?
MellyMel22 · F
@Musicman Yes! And yes, but that Aunt lives out of state.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@MellyMel22 Even better! 🙂🙂🙂
