There ARE loads of them, but they are not in my possession. My grandmother gave the coolest of the things from England to my cousins on my Uncle's side of the family...and my brother took what was left.

I DID ask if I could have a memento of our family to keep, and I was given a chipped pickle crock that was brought here on the sea voyage from England by my grandmother's side of the family, and a handmade basket, made by the first Sheriff of a small town in Iowa, who was one of our ancestors on her side of the family, also. It had been heavily painted with gun metal gray oil based paint...so it was ruined.

What heirlooms we had, were stolen from my uncles house when he was at hospital having Chemo.

So sorry you lost the family heirlooms when your village was destroyed... The memories exist and you get another day ..
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
Yes, I do.

I am so sorry about your loss of heirlooms, sorry about the Russians invasion of the Ukraine too.

We have a few. Nothing of great value. I keep a binder with photos of each item and an explanation of why it is an heirloom.
John Knowles, in A Separate Peace, wrote that "the task of destruction is infinitely easier than that of creation".

It's one of those statements which you know to be true immediately upon first reading or hearing it.

The huge human tragedy of this horrible Russian invasion is amplified by the concomitant violent destruction of culture as those lives are torn, wrongly and too early, from amongst the ranks of the living.

A few. Many were stolen in a burglary.
