Yes he needs to learn there are consequences for his actions

Tough love is key when someone is exhibiting bad behaviors. No consequences means no change. Hopefully it gives your dad some time to sober up. It's ironic when the parent needs help from the child!
pride49 · 31-35, M
@TryingtoLava they'll keep him from having a grand mal seizure in jail. Granmal ? Idk how it's spelled
@pride49 yup thatll be a baddd couple days
pride49 · 31-35, M
@TryingtoLava nah they'll taper him off with those pills. You can die from alcohol withdraw. (No guilt trip just flaunting the facts o know xD)
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
After the way he’s treated you, I’m not sure I wouldn’t have simply hung up the moment I realized who was calling if I were you. But then again I also haven’t spoken to my mother in two decades for similar reasons.
@Zaphod42 o i didnt accept the call no way jose natural consequences for him
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
He might have not had anyone else to call.
But I remember you saying he was abusive to you so that's really not your problem
@Justmeraeagain yuppp he doesnt deserve my help
You have my sympathies!🤯🥰
@Guardian o im not sad he knows better and the court is prob gona force him into AA or something and thats good
You have to take care of yourself. Good for you.

I got a call from a roommate thinking I would bail them out for 2800 bucks just a few weeks ago

I laughed at them
@HumanEarth yaaaa no way never lend friends money more than 100$ unless they really need it and even then the top is 800$ for me
HumanEarth · F
They would have to be a life long friend of 30, 40 or even 50 years longer of being friends and then I would I just give them the money. No payback is needed.

If one of my lifetime friends ask me large sum of money and they never have before.

I'll probably give it to them depending on the reason
Cant answer as to why he called but it is your choice if you choose to respond back or not you dont have too if you choose not too
@ExperienceDLT yaaa when i left his house he was on his own
@TryingtoLava you just do what is best for you ok pal

After all he did to you, he has some nerve expecting your help. He is where he needs to be.
@chuck7882 i was thinking bout it and idk what he called to tell me like he coulda yelled at me cuz he was mad thats kinda his style
chuck7882 · 61-69, M
@TryingtoLava it's probably for his own good that he's there right now tbh
HoeBag · 46-50, F
What did he do exactly?

Also is it possible it was just some scam call? Scammers will say anything to try to get money out of people.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@TryingtoLava Sounds like a difficult situation. 😬
@HoeBag not anemore i left home a couple years ago cuz i was over it
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@TryingtoLava Drunkards and chemical addicts are very hard to deal with.

Of COURSE when you point out that they need to get it together, they will talk about your shortcomings.

Oh yes, addicts have EVERY excuse on the planet.

If you do have to talk to him, you could politely ask, "Did you get enough to drink?" Kind of like at a dinner when we ask someone if they got enough to eat. 😄
pride49 · 31-35, M
Side note hopefully not in there for a third DUI. Or he'd go to prison for 10 years.
@pride49 it coulda been idk
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
Mail him a sandwich.
@GuyWithOpinions he can eat jail food and commissary
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
Maybe he just needs some clean under-wear or change for the vending machine.
@FloorGenAdm jail underwear is fine
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
Dad needs to not contact you.
@JackDaniels ikr its silly
JackDaniels · 46-50, M

@uncalled4 took me awhile to learn that i wasnt the problem lots of years ago
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@TryingtoLava Glad you did. I had to bail a problematic friend out of jail in the 90s. He was told "that's it, you are dead to me" like in Goodfellas. But this was not family. Family are far, far worse.
empanadas · 31-35, M
Honestly it's best to stay away from him completely
@empanadas totally agree!
