Good grief they did it on the sidewalks in the late 50’s in the small town we grocery shopped at. Men would squat down in front of the stores on the sidewalk waiting for their wives to finish shopping on Saturday mornings and talk to whoever they knew who walked by. I once had a guy get out of his car and scream at me. I had the window closed and I kept it closed while smirking sarcastically and making faces at him. ((Aren't I evil))....So, he spits in my face....and it lands on the window. I pretended to lick it off the window,....making him even more furious! Eventually he left.
