Good grief they did it on the sidewalks in the late 50’s in the small town we grocery shopped at. Men would squat down in front of the stores on the sidewalk waiting for their wives to finish shopping on Saturday mornings and talk to whoever they knew who walked by. There were gobs of spit on the sidewalks back then. Gee thanks for that long buried memory
