There should still be consequences for bad actions.

I'm more or less just referring to misunderstandings being sorted out and giving people freeness to discuss things

but it's more like giving someone a chance to explain themselves, or giving them space to fully grasp what you're trying to explain to them.

If they continue being buttholes about it, it will be obvious.
That's when you dig your heels in
