Recurring Dreams

Do you ever get recurring dreams? I have a few that I get often;
1) I can’t remember where I parked my car. I then search but never find
2) the dreaded library book that I forgot to return
3) I’m on my way home to my childhood home but as I get to the street I realize I don’t live here anymore
4) I’m on my way to class and I realize it mid terms and I haven’t read the book or studied at all.

Anybody relate? Share yours if you have some.

I think many of these examples probably refer to periods or events that left you feeling powerless.

Ultimately I suspect feeling powerless is a constant theme in many stages of life, but reference to times when you were younger maybe down to the hope (back then) that an adult somewhere in your life didn't/wouldn't/couldn't prevent the initial fear.

@Picklebobble2 Totally. I think my reocurring dreams are obviously due to feeling being vulnerable or insecure.

@JimboSaturn insecure back then or now ?
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 I think back then because I very rarely have those dreams anymore.

Unfortunately I have many recurring dreams. I have the high school art final dream where my art final is due and I haven't started. I've got the dream where I'm sent back to repeat my final year of high school. I have the dream where I'm trying to buy or consume alcohol. Recently I've been seeing my abusive ex in my dreams. On the brightside I often have lucid dreams. Having powers in my dreams is fun.

@PinkMoon lucid dreams are awesome! Haven’t had one in a long time.

I was a member of the Maintenance team (I won't say where or what) OK it was a job where there was some pressure, I carried it out well now I have retired I dream of those jobs and what I hate is I am pressured in my dreams I suppose some would call that a Night-mare only to wake up stressed.

I've had a variation of #1 where I get off a train at the wrong station and spend the rest of the dream trying to get somewhere.

I've also had #3 but the street is now vacant lots and abandoned houses.

I like the floating/flying dream when they happen, usually when I'm feeling good about something.

I get a few that come and go over the years. One of them I’m working in the grocery store where I worked in the early mid 1970s and realize I forgot to clock in several hours before.

I often dream of waking up late in the morning either to school or work and it's like 4-5 minutes before the last bus I could catch to get there in time departs. Despite that I still hesitate if I should make the effort to catch it or let it all be, come late or not come at all that day and if I realize it's lost, I plan to go to a doctor to get a stamp as an excuse.

Then I dream about walking in the woods alone and trying to avoid people I see from the distance. There are also certain places in the woods I keep visiting again and again. One such place are woods along the river.

Another one is about suddenly realizing that I'm barefoot and it's usually when I hastily get off the bus or a train and only then realize I left my shoes in it.

I've had the one not being prepared to an exam.

Being in public and realizing I'm naked.
Levitating or flying dreams but no one is impressed that I can do that.
Sexual dreams.
I used to have dreams of my teeth falling out but not anymore.
Dreams of living in a crazy big house.
4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
@JimboSaturn I forgot flying. Seems so easy and fun in dreams.

One of mine is I often have dreams about my wife having sex with other men but reading some of these replies I must feel insecure at times in my relationship.

I do have a vivid - although not reoccurring - dream I had when I was very young. If you want ,I'll share it .

I used to have wild crazy scary dreams almost every night. I hated it. Now I take sleep gummies and sleep like a baby, no dreams at all!
Matt85 · 36-40, M
I have no. 1 almost every week
4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy had that one last night. It’s what got me thinking of doing this post.
Sorry, I meant I have two, not your #2.

You seem to have had a lot of recurring dreams.
4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy there’s a few others as well. It’s all that pot smoking I think when I was younger.
A long, long time ago - in my youth.
