@BiasForAction A friend of mine said that he doesn't like the word "surreal" much, but that he also couldn't think of another word to describe 9/11/2001. We're New Yorkers (I knew one person who died at his place of business there. I had known him since he was a little kid...and he had his first child, a son, just a few months earlier. He was 30 when he died). RIP RDL III
@DragonFruit Last year, I was doing research and I found a video of a friend who worked in the Towers getting interviewed by Ch.11. It was right after the collapse. I had never seen it. THAT was surreal.
During a blizzard I was driving to my long distance school and I saw the car in front of me literally look like it blew over and flipped from a flat straight road. It happened right in front of a police station. I thought I was losing my mind. I could barely see anything. The road dropped where it flipped, so I couldn’t see anything and I couldn’t go back cause there was no way to get there from where I was. I pulled over and called 911 and said I’m not sure if I’m losing it, but I could’ve sworn I just saw the car in front of me flip in the air while it was just driving straight. The operator told me it was reported so I wasn’t losing it 😳
Spent the night at a friends house one night. About 4 am the cops busted in looking for drugs. Woke up with a gun barrel about 2 inches from my face. This cop said do you have any clothes on before he flipped the blanket off me. Had to sit there the whole day while they searched the house. I remember them going thru the freezer where all the drugs were. This one cop said i will never eat girl scout cookies again. And i said well can i have some. Starved me all day long.
Driving over to mums for Christmas one year. We drove through the night to escape the heat. The niece was chatting away about staying awake all night and zonked out mid sentence 2 hours in. We encountered some strange lights that looked like a train but disappeared into nothing, where no train track were. And an asteroid came through the atmosphere burning like flare from red to white to blue. The niece woke up 30 minutes before journeys end yapping away like she never fell asleep.
It was summer and we were at a small out of the way river park that had a small boat ramp. The single lane boat ramp is at the far end of the park on the border. Not sure I'm describing it well so here's an image:
A man in a truck had just loaded his boat onto the trailer and was about to pull out when, all of a sudden, a deer burst from the brush on the far side of the ramp. It launched itself in a high arc, nearly clearing the truck—but not quite. The deer landed square on the hood in a chaotic tangle of legs and hooves, kicking wildly in every direction. Just as quickly, it regained its footing, sprang off the truck, raced across the park, and ended up calmly eating black cherries in a nearby orchard.
It shocked all of us, but I really wish I could have gotten a picture of the look on the guy's face that was driving the truck when the deer landed right in front of him.
I can't really think of anything wild so I am going with this. My wife and I loaded the motorhome and took a seven week trip from Florida to Cheyenne Wyoming. On the way back we stopped in Wichita Kansas, Oklahoma City, Memphis Tennessee and Tallahassee. We had a wonderful time. 😊
I've been a prostitute for a very long time. Happily so. Did drugs and everything. Had a pimp. Got out of all that, went freelance and off drugs. Added to my career with being a peer counsellor where I met someone and got her off drink and drugs.
She was the sister of someone very high up the food chain in crime. He liked me. Wanted me to stop. But, this is me. So, he said anything that he could do, just call.
That's the backstory...
Moved areas, with my wife and child (yeah, lesbian marriage) and started working there. Some pimps were bothering me and my newfound friends down there, wanting us to work for them. Threatening us.
So...called my friend...asked for a favour....
The wildest experience was of seeing one brother with his hands gaffa taped to the steering wheel of his car, doused in petrol....whilst the other was given a talking to in front.
My friend had a lighter in his hand...told him to choose between profit or his brother.
Saw an oncoming semi trailer turn over on its side and slide quite a way down the highway towards us. My father stopped our car. And with other guys who stopped climbed onto the truck and help the driver out. He didn’t even wait for the highway patrol. We just drove off. It was 50+ years ago.
Having the mitral valve replaced in my heart. For over thirty years I had chest pains that doctors all just brushed off and claimed I had anxiety. I got a new doctor when I was 45 who referred me to a cardiologist who found out that the mitral valve in my heart had been defective since birth. I had open heart surgery and today, almost four years later, I have a fully functional titanium valve in my heart.
Looked out my kitchen window one morning, coffee cup in hand. Watched some guy stab another guy in the parking lot next door. It's an urgent care, so I didn't need to get involved. Finished my coffee and called the cops!
