Growing up in the 60s most women stayed home and took care of the house but they were just exercising their rights to have equality in the workplace. The husbands felt threatened when their wives would go out and get a job thinking all their friends would think that they could not take care of their wives and they had to work to take care of the bills. Whereas I looked at it and thought wow that's a lot of pressure off of me because I don't have to worried that my income is the only income coming in

Longish answer...Because they feel it takes power away from them, and to some being the strong one is the only purpose they serve. You take that defining trait away and they’re left dwelling in their own vulnerability.

Nods.... get told twice a week that because i stay single that i "must be scarred from a previous relationship" and "havent met the right one yet", yet has nothing to do with the fact that I can do anything anytime i want by staying single.

I asked a somewhat similar type question a couple years ago. I think a lot of men have a "rescuer" type personality and if they can't help the woman they don't know what to do with her. That has been my personal experience. They don't realize that there are other ways to help her aside from listening to problems. It doesn't mean she doesn't have an emotional side, or a desire for help, but she might want it in different forms.

Patriarchy.

Strong women have very different standards including intellectually which those men can't match, and are persistent about their truth despite prejudice and injustice they are likely to face in society. And since weak men equate the ability to gain a woman's interest to their self-value, they will harbor resentment and feel offended.

More than that, the social norms that regulate women's behaviors are followed with the belief that if you don't, you will fail in your life. The strong females in extremely patriarchal societies are a living a proof it is not the case. They prove that the false sense of safety society provides in exchange of following rules that aim to keep women second class citizens is unnecessary. And there is much more to gain from seeking your own individual ambitions.

It is not just weak men who are intimidated by this, weak women too. It is envy.

I've only ever noticed that on the Internet, never in my neighbourhood. In fact, most men here love strong women.

Strong women do not bother me at all, in fact I admire them. But there is a huge difference in being strong and being a bitch... and there are many women who confuse those two qualities.

Some guys can not deal with the concept that someone other than themselves could possibly defend themselves. I think it challenges weak minded men at their core - you know like at an instinctive level.

Fortunately, if there's any truth in Darwin's theory, the trait will be bred out of the human race over time. Cuz Neanderthal thinking like that can't possibly be attractive to strong, independent women.

They don’t think both strong men and women can coexist. They think the reason they’re weak is women are strong. They’re just crazy. Any of the above.
Luckily many men know better than to hate strong women for being strong.

A few different reasons,some are weak, some are cautious, some have past issues, some are controlling ...

They see more powerful and successful men and dont think they can compete, but at least they can see themselves as above what they come to think of as the weaker sex. That is until they see how bad ass a lady can be. Then he has to attack her character and femininity till his ego feels better.
