Why do some men hate and feel threatened of strong women?

Growing up in the 60s most women stayed home and took care of the house but they were just exercising their rights to have equality in the workplace. The husbands felt threatened when their wives would go out and get a job thinking all their friends would think that they could not take care of their wives and they had to work to take care of the bills. Whereas I looked at it and thought wow that's a lot of pressure off of me because I don't have to worried that my income is the only income coming in
