Walking with your arms folded

Do you do it?

It just seems so weird and unnatural to me (if I was to try it, and also seeing anyone else do it).

I know reasons for crossing your arms might include warmth, or comfort or even as a sub-consciously defensive posture but I just saw two friends walking along chatting happily side by side so it was apparently out of choice. And folding your arms while seated or stood still is very different to jusy walking along the street 🙃

I just notice weird things like this, like a man with camo trousers on but also a high-vis vest. Does he want to be seen, or not?? 🤣

I've never seen this and it sounds weird and uncomfortable. I use my clavicle as a hand holder when I'm tired though so who I am to judge? 😅

That man in camo cracked me up. 😆
You make some good points. I would think someone walking with their arms folded, would be a sign of their defensiveness. But, you never know.

As for the guy with the camo trousers and the high-vis vest, it sounds like he just threw on the first things he found. Or, maybe he could use a fashion consultant. 😂

I don't think that would ever occur to me. "Arms folded" just seems like a stationary pose to me.

Even in cold weather, my instinct is to put my hands in my pockets and to walk head down to avoid the wind in my face.

Although I suppose that would put me at risk for bumping into some guy walking along with his arms folded!

I always found walking with your arms folded unatural too, for me it would kind of screw up my gait, swinging arms counteract your legs. I can't imagine walking that way.

The whole camo with safety vests is a blue colar affectation. The are trying to look like workers and hunters or something; manly.

Interesting observation. I will need to look for that. Any difference between the sexes doing it?
helsbels · 31-35, F
@samueltyler2 I found myself resting my hands on my belly in the past, that I don't find unusual 🤭🫠
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@helsbels I find I fold my arms in public spaces like waiting at the doctor's office; it just feels weird to have my arms dangling. I do it on public transport because I think it takes up less room. Maybe it is an unconcious defence posture, who knows.
@samueltyler2 in my experience, this is a correct observation, especially in younger women.

Sometimes behind my back but never crossed in front of me.

Some people are very confused!
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl Oh no way I can walk with my arms behind my back either.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@JimboSaturn It makes me look decisive and authoritative 😔
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@SunshineGirl It does kind of make you look like you are in thought, contemplative :P

I do see men doing that.
MrTee · 31-35, M
I would only probably do this if I'm like posing for a pic or something and wanna show off my arms lol
BlobbyMcBlobface · 100+, M
I am not guilty of such actions

JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@HatBroski I can understand that, it makes you like mad our upset sometimes.
HatBroski · 31-35, M

ironborn · 51-55, M
It's weird, not natural at all.

Camo trousers and hi vis 😂
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
No, so un-natural.
