Walking with your arms folded

Do you do it?

It just seems so weird and unnatural to me (if I was to try it, and also seeing anyone else do it).

I know reasons for crossing your arms might include warmth, or comfort or even as a sub-consciously defensive posture but I just saw two friends walking along chatting happily side by side so it was apparently out of choice. And folding your arms while seated or stood still is very different to jusy walking along the street 🙃

I just notice weird things like this, like a man with camo trousers on but also a high-vis vest. Does he want to be seen, or not?? 🤣

Interesting observation. I will need to look for that. Any difference between the sexes doing it?

@samueltyler2 I don't think I've ever seen a man walking with his arms folded.
helsbels · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn Yes been 100% a female phenomenon in my experience.

@helsbels We had an fun event at my work where we went bowling. I found this amusing and intriguing. This woman would get up from her chair and walk to the bowling balls with arms folded, throw the ball, and then cross her arms again and walk back and sit down.

@helsbels maybe they are self conscious that their breasts are being stared at.

@JimboSaturn I'm very top heavy, it think walking with my arms folded screws up some kinesiologic law lol

@samueltyler2 Folding arms just gives them a little shelf to sit on which draws more attention 😅

@helsbels Here's another question, is it usually young women?
helsbels · 31-35, F
@JimboSaturn Yes same on just the practical physics of it. You need arms by your side!

@helsbels I have seen most pregnant woman beyond a certain phase, tend to keep their hands on the top of their baby bump.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@helsbels Its like a push up bra.

@samueltyler2 I found myself resting my hands on my belly in the past, that I don't find unusual 🤭🫠

@helsbels I find I fold my arms in public spaces like waiting at the doctor's office; it just feels weird to have my arms dangling. I do it on public transport because I think it takes up less room. Maybe it is an unconcious defence posture, who knows.
@samueltyler2 in my experience, this is a correct observation, especially in younger women.
