What distance do you consider walkable for a usual trip, like when shopping for groceries. I don't mean going for a hike but for daily things.

I live in a city conducive walking, and I walk a lot, so it’s not uncommon for me to walk between two and three miles to get groceries, go to the local bookstore… I also walk a lot to stay healthy because, personally, I think too many people are lazy, and if they live in a place that makes walking easy, they would still rather jump in a car, at a risk to their long-term health. And as you get older staying healthy becomes more and more crucial. Walking a mile burns about one hundred calories, and if you walk at a relatively fast pace, is excellent for the heart, fat burning…I have friends who live in my neighborhood, and they all either drive or take a Uber car, and my wife and I just don’t understand it.

I have been walking around in Walmart stores for about an hour or hour and a half lately when I want to get out of the house and get some exercise. Not the same as taking a brisk walk for that amount of time but I’ve had surgery and need to get my strength built up.
Kein Spaziergang ist zu viel für mich. Ich bin ein Superheld des Gehens.

I walk regularly more than 60 minutes every day and that has never been an issue for me even carrying groceries weighing more than 15lbs. It keeps me fit and is also an excellent cardio exercise because the last 1/2 mile is on a steep uphill.

I do regular hikes and jogging (weather permitting) that last much longer than 60 minutes.
30 min walk is good

If I’m shopping, I probably won’t want to deal with carrying everything back. But if the weather is good and I only need something small, I wouldn’t mind walking any distance and as long as side walks were easy accessible.

5min. Florida is notorious for not having sidewalks, months of heat advisories, and the hit and run capital lol. Not very conducive for walking.

ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
When I was young, well over 60 minutes. These days, maybe five before the knees start to give out, and then the ankles.
badashbish21 · 26-30, F
I wouldn’t want to do more than 30 minutes
BringTheLove · 22-25
Anything longer then 30 minutes - got to get a taxi
PeterF15 · 13-15, M
I walk daily at least for one hour.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Usual routine everyday trip, I'll say about up to 10-20 min.
