Do you enjoy working out at the gym when it's peak time or when you're almost by yourself?

I know some people enjoy the loudness of a full packed gym. It increases their adrenaline. Others like it coz it's a chance to show their bodies in the mirror or their weight lifting progress. And I've known a few who just like to "watch and judge" 😒
I personally like it in the slower times, sometimes just two or three people. Especially when I haven't been working out for a while and just coming back and you're like crawling off after a few bodyweight exercises 🤭🤭🤭 or it takes a lot longer to finish sets on the machines 😅

I know what you mean.I prefer going to the gym early morning when there are only a few people, for several reasons: The machines are cleaner ( sweat, you know lol), although there is always a lady cleaning the machine seats and handles intermittently...also, you don't have to wait for your turn at the machines like when it's packed. I also like being alone in the sauna,I find it awkward sharing it with another. Oh, and no oglers too lol.I stopped going to the gym though when Covid broke out and work out at home now and go running in the morning because there's a nice park near my house with a path that's perfect for running and walking because no cars are allowed to circulate within the grounds.
@Yourwildestdreams Yeah...KittyKat121 and I are just comparing notes about gym and exercise☺

When I’m with a friend, I don’t care how many people are around us. I’m just focused on them and helping them find their limit. When I’m by myself, I get incredibly self-conscious and I prefer not even going.

@DeletedAccount25 I know what you mean about being self-conscious. It does play around with the mindset. Just remember your purpose in going and don't mind what anybody what else might be thinking. If you're conscious about maybe not knowing how to operate the machines or unsure of the movement you're doing, there are usually people you can ask who would be willing to help, be it the instructors or someone right next to you.

@KittyKat121 You’re right—I’m probably overthinking it. On some level, I’m aware of that. It’s just one of those lovely side effects of ADHD that I don’t always have a strong lid on. 🙃

It makes very little difference to me unless it's so packed that I can't use the stuff I need. I go into my own world when I lift. The other people aren't there as far as I'm concerned.

Slow times for me. It's nice to get into that routine and flow from machine to machine. When it's busy, you have to constantly skip around to whatever is open.

I like it somewhere in between ... not mobbed, but I like the energy of others around me !!!

I always went before work, I'd get there around 3:30am & stay til 5. It was quiet and I never had to wait on a station since there was maybe 5,6 people at the most.

I don't go to a gym, but if i did I'd most likely prefer being almost by myself.
lauranne · 18-21, F
I prefer a gym with few people.

Plus, no wait times for the benches and racks!
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
I like it when it's quiet.
No high school kids parking on the benches to chat and text when I'm just trying to get a bench for bench press.
KittyKat121 · 26-30, F
@basilfawlty89 That is so true 🤭 Those who are hoarding the equipment for selfies as well
Mudkip · 31-35, M
I work out at home. Don't like waiting on anyone or needing to have a schedule
Mudkip · 31-35, M
@KittyKat121 for me it's the other way around lol. All the people there, unnecessary things, just doesn't add up for me. So after my run I work out at home. I have the freedom to do whatever I want 😤💪
KittyKat121 · 26-30, F
@Mudkip hmmm if it makes any sense, when I workout at the gym, there's this sense of urgency to finish each set with little or no delays (unless I like partially die in the middle from being away on a long lazy break 🤭)
If I workout at home, I have the freedom as well....... To take eternity breaks between exercises, eventually having to shorten the routine due to lack of time 😂😂
Sigh..... ultimately, it's all about the discipline 😌
Mudkip · 31-35, M
@KittyKat121 yes, it makes sense. You're on a set schedule, a certain time to finish your workout. I just didn't like having to wait on people or having to wipe off people's sweat. That was so annoying I swear.

Ngl I sometimes put my phone down and walk to stop the distractions 😂 But most of the times if I use it it's to change music or see if I have any texts I was waiting for.

Don’t mind it went it’s busy. Like early in the morning. Or when the gym is quiet
Kiesel · 56-60, M
Not really
I run instead

Honestly didn’t care for the gym atmosphere back in my CrossFit days
Galanr40 · 61-69, M
I prefer it quieter....
Iwillwait · M
I prefer quiet.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Don't need a gym for either reasons. 🙃
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Id rather it be empty
