Yes. If you're married or in a relationship and you have to wait for Valentine's day to show your partner that you love them then it's not a very good relationship, I'm all for romance but Valentine's day is a day to make money, flowers etc are all increased in price for that day.
SammyJo · 51-55, F
It's nice to show some romance, I think, however we try - my wife and I - keep that romance going, in little things that we do daily, throughout the year...not just one particular day.

The commercialism is over the top like with any holiday... it's to be expected nowadays.
Love is a good thing to celebrate, I don't see anything wrong with that on any given day of the year.

If it wasn't named after a Catholic saint, it might be appropriate.
I have no problems with a little romance. Yet only on one day a year? 😱
Get real! Only saints can operate that way! 🤣
This was purposely done, with that in mind! 🤬
Show a little romance at least once a week at minimum! 52 times a year isn't all that much for anyone's partner. And yes I'm talking romance.

I love and LOVE...is fabulous.
I believe we should celebrate it more often.

Well, as long as there are Valentine's day discounts for some products I'm interested in, I don't complain. 😆
bijouxbroussard · F
Not for the people who want to celebrate it with a loved one. It’s not mandatory; those who don’t see its significance are not required to participate. But they needn’t rain on other folks’ parades. 🥺

It's not. It reminds me how much I'm saving every year in fancy dinners and stuff 🥴
Absolutely! But it makes me sad not being able to participate regardless.

@NerdyPotato exactly, thats what I meant too
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
Absolutely
faery · F
I don't really even consider it, but on the day I will say Happy VD to anyone who says it to me.
Ohplease47 · F
@faery so would I!
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
I'm alone, so I don't know.
Horok · 31-35, M
Not really.
If I have someone I would be happy to celebrate.

No I think it's cute
I think celebrating love is a great thing
Gingerbreadspice · F
Definitely.
Yes, very much
Jexie · 26-30, F
Not really. It's about showing love to everyone you care about, and it's just a day to acknowledge that. Sure, it's pretty commercialized but so are other festive days too
pride49 · 31-35, M
Huh Must be why I'm feeling extra lonely and depressed tonight.

Another Hallmark Holliday. Good for card and candy sales.
An excuse to have chocolate 😋 is never overrated! 🕺🏼

Never.

Yes. I prefer spontaneity to commercialism.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
It is, and too commercialized.
Monalisasmith86 · 36-40, F
I’ve never had anyone to know what it is like anyways

I'm not big on invented special days.

A hallmark invention
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Not really. But I do think the idea and the commercialism behind it, is a bit over the top. 🙂
val70 · 56-60
Oh yes, the saint is turning in his grave
Fertilization · 36-40, F
Absolutely, there is no doubt about it.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
And expensive. Miley is never happy with just one red rose.
FreeLittleBird · F
No I think the commercialism for it is.

Definitely. Just something else ratcheted up by the greetings-card manufacturers.
