Asking for more sorrow

As an Englishman I am not accustomed to the "right to carry guns", though "carrying guns" is slowly growing in the UK. But to defend the right to carry arms is only promoting the right to murder isn't it?
Its is getting like the chicken and the egg, where someone has to accept responsibility for the acts of their fellow countrymen, men who kill for no reason.
It remind me of the song by the "Boomtown Rats" … "I don't like Mondays" was given as the only reason for a killings many years ago.

It seems there are strong arguments for and against, but I am happy to be in the UK where I feel safer.

It's not promoting the right to murder....it's defending your right to defend yourself against evil.

@SW-User Someone was armed, all your police carry guns.
SW-User
@Uncfred yeah but most of the time that a shooting occurs the police are not present until they are dispatched to that location. If others were armed they could stop the bad guy from killing so many innocents.
Blondgrl2004 · 31-35, F
@SW-User Thank you Lisa. Some people just dont understand and after they are confronted they which they did
Blondgrl2004 · 31-35, F
I dont agree. The people who buy guns legally are not the ones committing crimes for the most part. its the ones who buy the illegally that are the problem
Blondgrl2004 · 31-35, F
look at it ths way, if someone had equal force and someone comes in to do mass murder, I would hope a good guy or person would see it before it happens and take them out first.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
@Blondgrl2004 We can live in hope!?
Blondgrl2004 · 31-35, F
or die
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
It's promoting the right to be NOT murdered. It's much more a mental health issue than a gun issue. If these crazy's weren't using guns, they would use something else. Cars, trucks, bombs or anything else they could think of.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@MarineBob Yeah and check how many shootings there there.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
@nudistsueaz So the seed is already planted.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@Uncfred Maybe, that's an unknown right now. I hope it doesn't.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Guns do not promote murder, teaching the lack of respect and responsibility promotes murder...
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@Uncfred so do home made bombs. All you need is a pre-payed cell phone.
HatsOnFrogs · 26-30, M
@SW-User are you serious? How many mass murders via stabbing have you seen in your life, in comparison to the uncountable number of mass shootings?
HatsOnFrogs · 26-30, M
@SW-User you can run away from a knife. You can't run away from a gun
Just because you defend yourself with a firearm, does not mean that you are looking to kill people. Only maim them. Except that is never truly anyones goal when you ask them about it. They are going to kill the assholes.
Perpetuating violent fear is what I believe gun ownership does.
I know a woman who lives in a very quiet, quaint neighborhood that does not have issues with violence or crime. She sleeps with a loaded handgun under her pillow every night, you know, just in case.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@TwiddlerofThumbs My point is crazy people will use anything they can. Some have used poison in public areas. They will always find a way to hurt or kill others, if that's their intent.
@nudistsueaz Exactly, but why hand a society something even more deadly when currently it is not an openly available option?
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@Uncfred Me too
Peaches · F
Well I was raised in the country and my uncle taught me how to shoot. We ate off the land and only shot what we ate. Some country people survive that way.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
@Peaches And that's how it should be, but you know as I do, it goes way beyond that.
Peaches · F
@Uncfred Because we live on an evil planet, the most innocent things will be twisted and manipulated into something bad.
curiosi · 61-69, F
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in the government.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
@curiosi Ah, I see... and where in the US do you live?
curiosi · 61-69, F
@Uncfred South east
Uncfred · 61-69, M
@curiosi Case closed...
MarineBob · 56-60, M
we have the 2nd in case the brits want round 2
Uncfred · 61-69, M
Lostpoet · M
Idk. I feel safe where I'm at too.
SW-User
I totally agree.
HatsOnFrogs · 26-30, M
That killing was actually the first mass shooting of its kind, and that was back in the 70s. Nothing has changed in 40 years except for how increasingly stupid it all is
Uncfred · 61-69, M
[ @HatsOnFrogs Yes, but I did not want to say "Mass shooting" for the fear of being shot down by the gun carriers.
Uncfred · 61-69, M
Could anyone, hand on heart, say that owning a gun prevents serious crime? Does every gun owner think they are safe because they own a gun?
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@Uncfred No, they don't think they are safe. They do think they are safer and they won't have to wait for someone else to get there to protect them. They can protect their self.
