Europe is hostile to Russia. Wars happen when nations are hostile, but Russia does not want war with Europe. This idea has sprung from the imaginations of Europeans. It seems to be an illness that spreads from border to border, a plague. It has spread to those of European descent in Australia, New Zealand, and USA. These countries are filled with inhabitants who colonized them, who launched invasions against peoples who did not want to be colonized. Nowadays, Europe is busy filling its nations with other inhabitants while they live in paranoid fear of Russian invasion. They can have as many progressive policies as they want; what cannot be overcome is their desire for war.

@MarmeeMarch Quite so.. Russia first invaded part of the Ukraine in 1939 as part of his deal with the Nazis to invade part of Poland and expanded that in 1940. So technically you are correct, while being on the wrong side of history with both Nazi Germany and Stalins Russia. So Ukriane came out of that war as part of the USSR..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That is a creative re-write of history. Ukraine was a nazi puppet in WW2 and the people you blindly support in Kiev today see that as their ideal.
The mass murdering nazi Stepan Bandera is a national hero.
Marshall Zhukov was right. The soviets liberated Europe from fascism and for that they will never be forgiven.

Yes, not sure I have great confidence in the geopolitical instincts of a real estate developer.

@SunshineGirl
If you're referring to Donald J. Trump as being the Real Estate Developer in question, then I'm sorry to say that we're still out of luck. This is because Donald was never actually the Real Estate guy in Trump Corp of New York.
Donald was only ever the capital acquisition guy, who was the guy that got banks to loan money to Trump Corp despite Trump Corp's abysmal credit rating, which of course never got paid back, nor was a payment of interest to any bank ever made by Trump Corp on any loan that Donald secured on behalf of Trump Corp.
In that regard, geographical instincts are not available in Donald's real world.

@swirlie I was actually thinking about his golf buddy Steve Witkoff, but neither have a great deal of foreign policy experience.

This is not news. Russia has been very clear about this for years now.
It is in the west that people have been repeating this narrative that Russia wants to take over the world because it is important to manufacture consent for the proxy war.
The only thing that might extend this out from Ukraine is the meddling going on in Romania. Starting to look very much like the nonsense that was going on in Kiev in 2013 before the American Maidan coup. But it up to Romanians to decide if they want to be the next Georgia or Ukraine.

@newjaninev2 The coup regime the US installed tried to seize the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the Ukrainian Navy defected. But again all of that happened AFTER the coup you seem determined to pretend didn't happen because that doesn't fit your American talking points.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow well, eventually Ukraine sank much of the Black Seabed Fleet - and the rest is in hiding 😂
So, that aside - did any thieves try to steal anything at that time?

I don't trust anything coming out of this administration. And I've never felt that in the past. I get 'spin.' But this is different.

Russia has never invaded Europe but at least two European Countries have invaded Russia
Avectoijesuismoi · 31-35
@ArtieKat Do I believe it can be done no, it is highly unlikely for one reason there are humans in the equation. We including myself are not designed to live in harmony with each other or anything else for that matter.

Germany has no historical claim on Poland. The German Empire had been in existence for barely 70 years when Hitler invaded. They were simply exploiting the numbers of ethnic German speakers living in western Poland. Whatever "claim" the USSR had to eastern Poland is historically a Russian one, based on nothing more substantial than Russia repeatedly tearing chunks oit of other peoples' countries.
Great, they can do whatever they want in their own backyards. Just so long as Pinkie and Perky keep their snouts out of the affairs of sovereign nation states.
That was technically the USSR not Russia and an agreement between both countries to take back what they viewed as historically part of their countries.

Wouldn't it actually be a good thing if the US and Russia could work together ???

You mean Russia, North Korea, and Iran vs Ukraine and NATO?
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@Jokersswild Ah yes. Cannot forget the North Korean soldiers even Ukrainians fighting in Kursk have said don't exist.

The attitude in the USA is very bellicose. Nobody thinks it's possible for war not to come from Washington, and the USA.

@jshm2 I dispute your logic. While the Russians have reportedly brought in North Korean troops, the Ukrainians are fighting with their own manpower. No foreign government backed forces from other countries..😷

@jshm2 holding their own?
After eleven years of brutal invasion, russia is temporarily infesting 18% of Ukraine's territory.
russia's navy is hiding, its air force is afraid to go near the border, and its army is a meat-wave shambles... even begging north korea for help didn't change that.
