You mean Germany. All other European countries either have their own natural resource, or secured energy from other sources.
Germany mistakenly gambled on Putin being pragmatic and figured that having a joint-venture with Putin would guarantee his pragmatism. That did not work.
In its race to find alternate sources of energy, the country has reopened coal-fired power plants, delayed plans to shut down its three remaining nuclear power plants, and pushed to increase capacity to store natural gas imported from other countries such as Norway, the US and Qatar.
Germany built a new liquefied natural gas terminal - in a record of around eight months,. More infrastructure investments are also planned.

american wood pellets for heat and also american liquefied natural gas...europe cannot support itself period. their social political agenda is waaaay too costly today. then add numerous refugees as extra burden
Cierzo · M
@lpthehermit American liquefied gas should never be the alternative. Too expensive.

I’m afraid to say, Germany is a vassal of America, it’s so obvious that it was America that destroyed Nordstream 1 and 2, Biden, Victoria Nuland even said they’d stop the gas, and look who wins, America, through selling their LNG to Germany, which is getting de industrialised, as we speak,

@ididntknow Indeed I don't - any more than you offer any evidence to support your opinion.
NEITHER you nor I KNOW, whatever either of us might BELIEVE.
Hurling allegations about is pointless and wrong.

Not all of it is. Just east and central states. Western Europe has its own natural gas fields in the North Sea

What you need to realise is America don’t want Germany and Russia to become too friendly, imagine what a massive economic power that would be, and that wouldn’t be in America’s interest, would it 🙃

@ididntknow Good point.

Dense populations and small land areas.
Old countries that exhausted mineral deposits long ago.
Otherwise, we don't fart enough.

@Burnley123 We broke the same way.

France is almost entirely nuclear and is doing fine. Germany went with wind and solar and suffered for it.

Don't know what news you're referring. New terminals were built in record time, to accommodate what the US and Qatar were shipping. Helped with a little luck (lower consumption due to a milder winter). Putin did not get to take advantage of his energy blackmail and Germany continued sending weapons to the Ukraine.
The news told of numerous grid problems. A prolonged gas shortage could be disasterous.

@Northwest That's fine. Reserves depleted.

What reserves, and whose?

There are alternatives. But the Russian supply network was developed and somewhat intergrated into the system, which makes alternatives more costly and the logistics more time consuming. In the end its always about money..😷
Roundandroundwego · 61-69
That was practical, buying Russian gas. Americans bombed the pipeline, you don't need no more reasons. You showed us the way.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Roundandroundwego Okay, Vlad.

Europe is pretty tiny comparing to Russia.Even if there is gas somewhere under neath Trying to dig for it… it will probably crack apart and drown … its just cheaper n easier to get it from Russia

Sure there are alternatives.
Solar. Hydrogen. Wind. Hydroelectric. Nuclear if you're desperate.
