It would be Prudent for Europe to become less reliant on the U.S. and move away from using the U.S. Dollar

as the mechanism used for trading and paying for commodities.
In addition to this re-establish new and stronger ties and co-operative relations with Russia (OIL and GAS) and China for TRADE.
Signing a new and long-term agreeable commerce and industry friendships and unifying the entire continental landmass with infrastructure prepare for future growth in the entire giant landmass of Eurasia, Middle East, Africa.
The entire landmass could thus become a very large infrastructure of rail, shipping, trade, commerce, industry.

It would. Thats is the plan China and Saudi Arabia are hatching now. To have the $US replaced as the reserve currency for trade.. When thats idea really takes off, the value of the $US will plummet.😷

Thank you for the Best Comment..... I only wish I had got it with something more positive..

@whowasthatmaskedman It is the BRICS countries at the moment Brazil Russia India China and South Africa but Saudi Arabia and Iran are coming in to the group as well
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Longleggedlady Exactly.. And Saudi Arabia are looking to join that group officially. 😷
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@whowasthatmaskedman So is Iran they are willing to put aside their differences to join it is going to get very interesting and very soon the meetings have already taken place several times in recent weeks

We have many right-wing authoritarians in Europe who wish to side with the Russian and Chinese tyrants – because it would be so convenient. We would just have to give up our freedom and look away when they commit their next genocide.
The entire landmass could thus become a very large infrastructure of...
...rape, torture, re-education camps and cheap Russian gas.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@helenS lolno. You are an intelligent person, Helen, but you are not aware of Turkey's history if you think that. Look at the history of pogroms against Armenians, Greeks and Jews from Atatürk to now. Kurds are being murdered as we speak.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@helenS They will find it difficult, I’m afraid.
helenS · 36-40, F
@MartinII I really admire how the UK is determined to keep supporting Ukraine.

This year has proven Europe's reliance on Russian energy to be the greatest mistake since like, World War 2. Germans are gonna end up freezing their little fingers off because they were too scared of nuclear energy, even though nuclear energy is objectively safer than coal, oil, & natural gas anyway.
carpediem · 61-69, M
Yes because we can see what a great trading partner Russia makes. The fact is, NATO was created to protect Europe from an over aggressive USSR. NATO is expanding to remain strong against continued aggression from Russia. So now get away from NATO’s main benefactor in the US and increase trade with entity NATO was created to guard against?

That doesn’t sound very smart to me. Look what’s happening to Germany after they chose Russia as their main energy supplier
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Longleggedlady Like I said, careful what you wish for 🫵
ArtieKat · M
@carpediem You have never agreed on anything before but on this subject we are in accord.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@ArtieKat Can’t disagree on everything. Thanks for your comment 👍
Jenna76 · 36-40, F
But you still want us to protect you, right?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Jenna76 FR, the fact that the US is even having to worry about this whole Russian invasion of Ukraine is absolutely humiliating for France and Russia.
LizOwen · 41-45, F
@Jenna76 It would be better if Europe stood on its own feet and did not rely on the US for protection. that way the US could leave its bases in Europe as well. This 'US-led' western world has been pretty demeaning since the 39-45 war and although the USA is far preferable to Russia and China, it is still different from European philosophies, culture and aspirations.
AuRevoir · 36-40, M
Every nation should be as independent as possible for the basics of food, energy, and water...

Trade should simply be a means of increasing revenue for both parties involved in the trade..
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@AuRevoir I couldn't agree more with the first part of your answer, it would be wonderful the issue is in lots of countries it is neither possible or practical to be that way. One big factor is space alone to do it all. Secondly in lots of countries they simply don't have enough fertile soil or are climatically in the wrong place to do so.
Take China it is huge but they can't produce enough food to feed the population, they are heavily reliant on imported crops like soya for instance.
Eternity · 26-30, M
If it werent for Russia and China needing to maintain such rigid control over what modes of life their people are exposed to, this would work.

Russia and China are simply too hostile to foreign influence in any way shape or form.

They wont want you selling your movies or your art in their country.

Nothing that could make their people think in a way that they dont want them to.

I'm not a huge fan of the USA (and I live here) but out of the three (China, Russia, US) they are the lesser of the evils.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Eternity I don't live in the USA but you're on point with everything you said. Europe should ideally be its own sphere of influence, not trade the U.S. sphere of influence to fall under Russia's or China's sphere of influence.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Pretty much Putin's concept, with one slight change.
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@ChipmunkErnie I know but what is the slight change
Heartlander · 80-89, M
It's not about relying on the dollar but more like taking advantage of it. I'm not saying this as a way to say the US dollar is superior, but more from the standpoint that the value of all currencies reflect the selfish interest of each country and just like when we feel wobbly and a bit dizzy, holding on to a friend can steady us for a bit. But it can also result with the both of us on the floor.

If there was an international solid currency that could be depended on as stable, it would be the Swiss franc. But while it may be the safest, it's like throwing water wings at a sinking ship.
Ontheroad · M
Russia and China each have one goal... world domination. If you want to be dominated, fine, go with your idea.
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
That didn't work out terribly well for Germany 🤔
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@SunshineGirl The German government has themselves to blame for that, if they had let Nordstream 2 come online they wouldn't have the issues.
TexChik · F
Absolutely. Once common sense is restored and American oil and gas, farm , and industry get on track ...European countries that dont recognize the dollar will be left out of the American market which, while Trump was president, drove the world economy. Europe would have to pay with precious metals.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@longleggedlady] would this become a bit of a gamble if we became less reliant on the americans and got it wrong . far as russia go i think doing any business with them whilst they still have troops in ukraine is a no . basically you need to dot the i and cross the t before you do anything in that area
I do not see any problem with basic things being produced continental, i think it would benefit the poorer people by providing a means, it seems inflation and ressecion cycles are more speratic than ever before, with the widespread use of the U.S.D..
Yulianna · 26-30, F

@helenS 🤗 thank you ❤
RedBaron · M
It also would be prudent for you to learn not to capitalize adjectives.
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@RedBaron It is a deliberate ploy
RedBaron · M
@Longleggedlady What was your point?
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
No until.Russia is a smoking hole.
Elessar · 26-30, M
In addition to this re-establish new and stronger ties and co-operative relations with Russia (OIL and GAS) and China for TRADE.
No, thank you.
SW-User
Think whatever you like of the US, but if you think Russia or China are Europe's friends, you literally have not being paying attention, not even this very year

It's literally no different than saying "we should re-establish trade and stronger ties with Hitler ... so he kills a few Jews for no reason whatsoever, at least he's not American"
empanadas · 31-35, M
Yeah, cause more of Europe wants to be under Russian rule. Also the Chinese have been shown to be the best trading partners. What they are currently doing to Africa is almost criminal
