Anti-male Discrimination.

I see Primark are bringing back women only changing rooms in their stores. It appears men will still have to use the unisex ones where random women will still be able to walk in on them as they're changing. Obviously they think equality only works one way and, as second class citizens, men don't deserve respect or dignity.
I can think of a lot of ways men are not respected.

This wouldn’t make the list.

"Male privilege" means the needs of men simply don't count.
Sharon · F
@graphite Probably true initially but things would change very quickly once they realised it was going to cost them every penny they would otherwise have earned.

@graphite
a call for drafting women and it's being resisted
Here in Norway women campaigned for national service (førstegangstjeneste) to include women as well as men.
Verneplikten har vært kjønnsnøytral etter det ble innført allmenn verneplikt i 2015.
Conscription has been gender neutral since general conscription was introduced in 2015.

Glad for this random little tidbit. Now I know NOT to wear underwear next time. If it's a cheap thrill they need I may as well make it REALLY cheap thus, really worthwhile.
@Sharon Naw, given my druthers, I'd druther keep it cheap and tawdry. besides, I haven't anything you haven't seen before. Of course it would require a I-Max super screen. 3-D glasses could be fun as well.

@Sharon
I think men should email them about their blatantly misandrist attitude.
I intend to today.
Sharon · F
@rob19 Have you had a reply? I emailed them at the beginning of last week. An automated acknowledgment informed me someone would reply within two days. I'm still waiting. It seems they treat everyone with equal contempt.
but if a dude identifies as a woman, he can still go in. LOL rules are made, but, then, people who dont give a fuck about the rules just do what they want.
Sharon · F
@Graylight I think that's what the woman who complained about men using unisex facilities wants.
@Graylight none of this applies to me because i already know what size i wear. i dont try on clothes in the store. people these days can use whatever room they want. and signs dont really matter to people who dont give a shit and are gonna do whatever they want anyway. out of all the crazy shit in the world going on today, i dont really understand the uproar over all of this. we have far worse things to worry about.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@YourMomsSecretCrush Gotcha. Along a similar path, I wholly agree.

While I am open to three types of dressing rooms/restrooms, I have no problems with coed rooms for all genders.

I remember a certain situation at a certain Walmart were a girl couldn't wait. The woman's room was packed. So she used the mens room. I was in the stahl right next to her.

Sadly she was banned from the store.

What is unique is this particular Walmart actually had a unisex/baby restroom, yet they purposely put it way in the back of the store far away from the other restrooms. As if Walmart itself was ashamed of the whole concept in being forced into it.

By law stores of a certain size here must have such single use restrooms. And this was a Walmart supercenter.

Honestly I don't think discrimination is necessarily bad, as long as it's done to further legitimate business interests through creating actual value and isn't done at the behest of legitimately bigoted people. Women tend to be a little more sexually conservative, and thus some won't feel super comfortable in a shared network of changing rooms. This isn't a big deal.
Sharon · F
@BlueVeins Yes but they appear to be ignored. My husband has written to them about this issues but he's yet to even receive and acknowledgement. We're not holding our breath. Try emailing them about it, see if you can get a reply.
@BlueVeins @Sharon I intend to write a letter of complaint to them too.
rob19 · M
@NortiusMaximus So do I. It will be interesting to see how they try to justify their misandry, if they even bother to try. In many cases, men's complaints are simply ignored.
I don't care whether changing rooms are single sex or unisex but I do get pissed off by women demanding special treatment. They seem to think they can pick and choose which bits of equality they want. If Primark wants to revert to single sex changing rooms, fine but do it for both sexes equally or not at all. I'm sick of being treated as something sub-human, whose feelings can simply be ignored because I happen to be the wrong sex.
@NortiusMaximus women don't want anything from men. Treat each other however you like!
@Roundandroundwego Too many women demand equality then, the moment they get it, they demand special, unequal, treatment.

I'll be contacting Primark abut their sexist policy too although I doubt it will make much difference. They've already made it clear they don't give a damn about what men think.
I'd like to point out that there are still cubicals where people change. It's not like there's one big changing room where everyone is naked together, like THERE SHOULD BE!
BlueVeins · 22-25
@BohemianBabe so fucking based dude
meJess · F
Not sure men care about being seen
@meJess Some men do but that's irrelvant anyway. The pollicy is a clear example of unjust sex discrimination.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@meJess Maybe not, but I do care about horrifying people, so there's that.
rob19 · M
@meJess
Not sure men care about being seen
No all women do either. Does that make in OK to discriminate against those men who do?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
That's like the people who say Hooters exploits women....99% of them filled out the employment application themselves
@Graylight that place is cheesy. not a fan. it was okay at first. a novelty. but, as the years have gone by......... hooters have gone the way of applebees, ruby tuesdays, tgifridays, etc. bad food and bad management have killed it.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@YourMomsSecretCrush Interesting. Has any chain unofficially taken their place? Asking as a female who doesn't frequent them but is always interested in the social pulse.
@Graylight theres a place here locally who has a common theme. i havent been there, but, judging from the parking lot, it is way busier than hooters. maybe the girls are prettier, maybe the food is better, maybe the service is better. not sure. when i go out to eat, its usually with my girlfriend or my kids........ and thats not really a place to take either. LOL
Dshhh · M
most males are not intimidated by a woman walking into the changing room
thus little to no harm

this is not true for women for whom a man walking in is a serious yellow alert.

not sure this is realy about equality so much as safe space
Sharon · F
@Dshhh It's a department store.
rob19 · M
@Dshhh
most males are not intimidated by a woman walking into the changing room

As @Sharon pointed out, for some men that would be a serious red alert. By referring to men as "males" but then saying "women" rather than "females", you're revealing your bias.
alan20 · M
@Sharon Called Penney's over here; over the border actually.
Chelsiegirl · 46-50, T
Im trans and i hate it when i would have to change around men.. then risk some guy who.wants to fight me.. but i pass as a woman really easy.
empanadas · 31-35, M
Honestly this is why I'm tired of the USA. Everybody is complaining about who's the most oppressed. Meanwhile, there's people in third world countries who can't get a meal. Y'all just be creating issues sometimes.
@empanadas And given your concern for those suffering in 3rd world countries( America, possibly heading in that direction) what are YOU doing about their plight?
And if you are tired of the USA, why haven’t you left ? No doubt you could go to a 3rd world nation and deal with their plight of suffering.
It is reality albeit very sad and unfortunate.
But lamenting won’t start change.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@soar2newhighs I left at the beginning of this month🤷🏽‍♂️ it's hard to leave when almost all of your family is here. I'm about to give up my citizenship. Just waiting for a tier 1 passport to be approved. Y'all can have your 33 percent taxes going to self destructive causes. Also, most countries that were once considered third world countries are now developing countries with emerging markets. Explore the world more and you will realize, the USA isn't the best country anymore.
@empanadas First, I won’t give up on my country. Not perfect but it is as countries go, a young one. Room for improvement? Certainly.
Hopefully you go to a country where all your hopes and dreams are realized. That said, don’t be naive. Every country has its shortcomings and flaws, and wherever you wind up, that reality will confront you.
You see what is going on at our southern border. Can you explain or rationalize why there is such numbers of people coming across our border and not going through a legal immigration process?
Are we still in the fog of “ what is a woman?” C’mon, man, you know, you know the deal!
@Sharon I hear you.
PatKirby · M
@PatKirby Yeah, the emphasis is on “bi” . Bunch of lost people.
SW-User
That's most places. We've taken equality of the sexes, and turned it into tropes to attack people...

That said... I agree with Copper below... this is a fairly mild diss... it wouldn't make the list of male oppression.
Sharon · F
@SW-User It's the thin edge of the wedge though. Each step is too small to make a fuss about but, slowly, your rights are being eroded. By the time you notice you don't have any left, it's too late.
SW-User
@Sharon Wow...very well put!
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Yep,its definitely not fair.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
Many guys would drop trou right in the aisles if they wanted to, most could care less about being seen by women, sounds like a dog whistle to me 🥴
scooogy · 31-35, MVIP
Had that in a store which I didn't visit anymore since then.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
You are teasing, where do you ever see nonlockable changing rooms? For some with fantasies, that could be interesting! LOL
Sharon · F
@samueltyler2 That's what some whiny woman complained happen to her. I don't know whether it's true but, if so, obviously women could walk in on men getting changed. I don't want my husband being oogled or groped by random women.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sharon if they don't lock the door, they can't complain. Would you really be upset if another woman sees your husband changing or even nude?
Sharon · F
@samueltyler2
if they don't lock the door, they can't complain.
That type of woman would complain anyway.

How would you feel if random men oggled your wife, perhaps making her fell uncomfortable? Why should I feel any different if random women did the same to my husband?
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Don't they have cubicles? Everywhere I have used a changing room where I live (Norway) has individual changing rooms. The same in all the charity shops I visited in the UK this year.
Sharon · F
@ninalanyon They do but they have one area for women only and another area for anyone. There is no men only are so men can still be subject to whatever the women were complaining about. Obviously Primark don't care about their male customers.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@Sharon As long as there is a door or curtain to close off the cubicle it's fine by me, I won't be prancing around in my knickers in the common area.
Sharon · F
@ninalanyon I agree but obviously that wasn't good enough for the misandrists, they wanted preferential treatment.
I just love a little bit tweaked, a little bit less. No matter either the direction, it's going to be a confusion, a tidy, study in chaosboth senseless, both an un-ruly lind of a most ridiculous profile of messiness,
supersnipe · 61-69, M
For my part, I am not actually that bothered. It's not something that I feel like making a fuss about.
@supersnipe It's just the thin edge of the wedge. By the time it gets serious enough for you to be bothered, it will be too late.
rob19 · M
@NortiusMaximus
By the time it gets serious enough for you to be bothered, it will be too late.
Exactly. They just slowly make minor changes, pandering to women's demands at the expense of men, hoping no one will notice or consider the change important enough to complain about.
alan20 · M
Might they want to attract more women ??
alan20 · M
@Sharon I'd say some of them would be attracted too but maybe not the type you'd want to meet in a clothes shop .😀
Sharon · F
@alan20 Are you talking about women or men. There are a lot of women I shouldn't like to meet either. In fact, I'd prefer unisex changing rooms as I'd be less likely to be surrounded by aggressive women.
alan20 · M
@Sharon My last response was about men but I agree - it could apply to either.
wtf...

That would seem to play into the Rush Limbaugh-style rhetoric, which isn't good for ANYone!
Women faced discrimination and rose above it. Men don't face discrimination, they underperform and sag below.
Graylight · 51-55, F
They all do. Show it with locks on the doors, for God's sake.
Sharon · F
@Graylight They all do what? Show what with locks?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Sharon Dear lord. Complete a sentence game

They a deserve respect and dignity, as per the original post.

They can show that respect and dignity by placing locks on dressing room doors.

Not everything is a giant political conspiracy.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Welcome to the woke world?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@ChipmunkErnie It's hardly being woke being prejudicial.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M

Do men care enough this issue to boycott this store ? Seriously ? Because people voting with their wallets works.
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
I've never encountered a unisex changing room where everyone walks in on each other
Sharon · F
@SkeetSkeet Nor have I. Which I why I doubt that woman's story.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Here's a crazy thought. Individual locking changing rooms for everybody.
spjennifer · 61-69, T
@LordShadowfire Butt, but then they'd have nothing to whine about 🤪
Sharon · F
@spjennifer Don't worry, they'd find something.
Sharon · F
@LordShadowfire
Individual locking changing rooms for everybody.
I understand that's what they already have, individual locking cubical in a large, unisex, room. That's not enough for the whining woman who started all this off though,
