why is it dangerous to wake up a sleepwalker?

My parents told me I sleepwalked two or three times as a child. They didn't wake me up, but just watched me go back to bed after I wandered around a bit.

One of those times, I woke up spontaneously and found myself in the kitchen. I wasn't startled, but wondered why I went there; I wasn't hungry.

My daughter sleep walks sometimes and I never wake her up. I either carefully guide her back to her room or see if she goes to the couch or her beanbag chair and let her be.

Happened to me once in the middle of the night and I had locked myself out of my flat. Very tricky situation

I think it's more a question of causing mental confusion and agitation in the sleepwalker.

its just cause they might get confused and aggressive.
