The strain of covid has mutated and is more contagious? What?

This is incredibly frustrating
revenant · F
They change their minds everyday. Install fear in people and they become compliant
CestManan · 46-50, F
@revenant Oh my GAWD! Jefferey Dahmer missed out!
revenant · F
@CestManan 😂😂 and oh you should see the decapitated heads on spikes all around town !!!!! They are there to warn covid deniars , And now they are building dungeons underground too...If I do not shut up I might meet the rack torture soon 😑
Elessar · 26-30, M
@revenant No one demands decapitation or anything that extreme. We're all pretty satisfied with the way things are turning for covidiots as of recently, starting from their worldwide leader of reference losing elections 😏

Uachtarain · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 That is probably at least the 24th time you have used that exact comment with me. And it is just as amusing now as it was the first time you used it (i.e. not at all)
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Uachtarain Are you not proud of the mostest perfectest elektion in the history of elektions?
Uachtarain · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 I certainly am :)
Elessar · 26-30, M
I haven't read about any recent mutation being a major concern in any academic channel, so chances are that you've come across some sensationalised piece of news. If you can provide your source or at very least the "name" of the mutation I might give a better look into it.
Davemcdave · 46-50, M
@Elessar it was on BBC news but this is the latest article
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/12/18/exclusive-boris-johnson-handed-alarming-new-evidence-virulent/
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Davemcdave Yeah I figured. But as I said it's all speculation for now, and we had several mutations (if I recall correctly ~4000) in that protein, at least one of which already linked to more transmissibility/adaptation. I wouldn't worry too much tbh. Headlines as always make sensationalist articles like that just to make 💰💰💰
Davemcdave · 46-50, M
@Elessar we'll see
Frank52 · 70-79, M
The common cold is very contagious, but not serious for most. COVID 19 is serious in many (look at the hospital numbers and deaths) but if the vaccine brings about herd immunity, it may render the new virus no more concerning than that. Ideally, from the virus's position, it needs to be contagious - get as many hosts as possible - but not deadly. Mutation to be less damaging to the host would be best for the virus.

At the moment added contagion is of concern, but long term need not necessarily be.
@Frank52 It has the potential if not already happened - to cause panic / inconvenience / and someone like Amazon will be delivering items to your home - while Bezos rakes in the money.
Frank52 · 70-79, M
@MarmeeMarch
while Bezos rakes in the money.
Damned capitalists.
@Frank52 He just better stay on China's good side - they make 99% of his products.

There are over 4000 strains of it
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User I think I have 4,000 types of diabetes.
revenant · F
they want to scare you
Platinum · M
@Adaydreambeliever I never said you were scared
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@Platinum hmm platty....... that's not factually correct that the last ones went on their own... a fair few of them are still around Ebola is.. I think Swine flu is... so I am not sure about that.. I could look it up but it's my bed time and you know I turn into a pumpkin after midnight :P goodnight.. have a lovely rest of the evening
Platinum · M
@Adaydreambeliever it is true...
curiosi · 61-69, F
The sheep so enjoyed the last round of fear porn they decided to keep it up. Enjoy! I for one will not live my life in fear of the flu.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@curiosi Since December 2019, COVID-19 has killed more people in the U.S. than influenza has in the last five years

But go ahead and carry on infecting as many other people as possible... why should you care?
curiosi · 61-69, F
That's what viruses do. That's why there is a new strain of flu every year.
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Virus's do that.. they mutate.. it's in their interests to do so.
Super sniffles.. oh no. What ever will we do now..
save us bill gates
@CestManan I’m sexy AF huh 🤔
CestManan · 46-50, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Oh yes, and BTW - the reason that lady is smiling is because Bill Gates saved her.
@CestManan yay bill gates
I'd say it's just typical evolution, but then...im leaving myself open to being attacked by creationists...😏
TinyViolins · 31-35, M
That's what viruses do, especially considering they're multiplying countless number of times in millions of hosts. The chances of replication errors and mutations are pretty high.

I haven't seen all the research on the vaccines becoming available, but the goal of those is to kill the majority of the strains out there

2020 is an incredibly frustrating year.
G00GLE · 22-25, M
That is how virus do. Mutate and spread.
purplepen · 51-55, F
I hate everything about this nasty bat flu. Stay well, everyone, and let's hope for the best.
Platinum · M
Is it.....do love the experts
Platinum · M
@Frank52 there ain't its still the same pandemic
Frank52 · 70-79, M
@Platinum But you thought it would be gone by now.
Platinum · M
@Frank52 I never said it will be over, we have 66.7 million people in UK and 66 million have not got it....everyone who dies they say is covid and its not true, deaths are not much different from last year..experts have said the tests are not accurate.
Based on what medical evidence?
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
h@Grateful4you based on an absolutely shit load of evidence.. the fact that you haven't seen it just says more about you than anything else! If you will hang out on Trump-arse-lickers channel you are unlikely to see real news or anything related to science.

Oh of course , it’s the Black Plague 🙄
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
To all those intelligent design believers.. Here is evolution working fast enough for you to see. And the virus doesnt have a single cell. All it wants is to feed and split. Kinda like people, isnt it??😷
SW-User
They'll be nobody left except 4 the super rich in 10 yrs
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User But who will buy stuff and pay tax? I mean how will they stay rich at that point?
SW-User
@CestManan Eventually they'll lose it all, but before they do, they'll outlast the poor and middle class.
