Salt, pepper and olive oil would have helped. Sometimes I make them with thinly sliced cremini mushrooms and beef broth or sliced almonds or salt, green dill weed and olive oil
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
Definitely would help with the weight loss, but why boiled? Just have a delightful, crispy salad instead.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Ambroseguy80 @SW-User I agree..salad is great...and...you can lose weight eating any favorite food as long as its in a smaller portion, and you maintain weekly exercise too.

SW-User
@Ambroseguy80 I’ve been eating salad and it’s not helping. I read vegetables help with weight loss and I lost 4 pounds already. Lol, eggs and green beans.

They should be sauté with Olive oil and garlic...
Gangstress · 41-45, F
You could spice them up
Suate them with garlic
I love green beans but gotta spice them up lol

I love green beans but gotta spice them up lol

SW-User
@Gangstress thanks for the advice. I ate them elsewhere and they tasted better. I definitely need to add butter and spice.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@SW-User yeh i used to boil them and feel disappointed lol

SW-User
@Gangstress yeah, I doubt I could handle them again like that. 😳

SW-User
I only like green beans raw and fresh from the garden. Most vegetables taste (and smell) nasty to me when boiled.

SW-User
@SW-User true but you can fix them up with additives

SW-User
@SW-User True, I would have to add salt and butter (which also tends to have salt in it), plus seasoning just to force it down. And even then, I still don't like cooked green or yellow beans, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, or peas (ewww).
icedsky · 51-55, M
He's right. Add some seasoning. Some garlic. Some fresh shallots. You'll be hooked

SW-User
@icedsky you’re right, I have to learn how to spice up vegetables so I can actually eat them
originnone · 61-69, M
Yeah, eating crappy tasting food never works...in fact in my experience nothing works.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@originnone I have eaten foods I enjoy and lost 5 pounds this summer...BUT I cut out most sweets and lessened my dinner portions. The question is how to maintain eating less. 😣
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
Green beans are best when blanched in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then sauteed in butter until al dente, minced garlic added the last 15 seconds, or until the aroma of garlic starts wafting through the kitchen 🤤😋❤️

@SW-User You'll fall in love with them :)

SW-User
@NativePortlander1970 thanks cause they taste nasty without anything lol
NativePortlander1970 · 51-55
@SW-User You're so very welcome :) I completely agree, they have no taste on their own.
