When you're being health conscious

I chose two healthier options today, Two! I had a Dunkin egg and cheese on English muffin instead of croissant for lunch. And at dinner I really wanted breaded chicken in my sandwich, but ordered grilled! So I was feeling all good about myself until I realize halfway through my chicken sandwich, that the lemon poppy mayo (sooo good) probably has 20 grams fat!!! Ugh can't win for losing 😩

Unless the Mayo had a lot of chemicals in it it's not a bad fat it's 100% fat ,but that doesn't really make it bad.
If it has a lot of sugar in it that might be a problem, but they don't usually put sugar in mayo,possibly in the flavored ones?
But ,we're going to make mistakes.
I've been a diabetic for many many years and I still make mistakes like today I thought I'll eat some potatoes it's Saint Patrick's Day,but I'm very sensitive to starches and carbs,so ,of course, it raised my blood sugar too high.
Just start again tomorrow for whatever is right for your goals.

@Baybreeze I get it and those who say "it's only diabetes" do not have a clue how hard it is to just stop eating anything that you like.
To see little progress when you are doing the right thing.
They have some kind of idea that you're just sitting around eating ice cream and cookies and not trying at all to control your diabetes which isn't always true ;every case is different.
I've even had doctors tell me I must be eating sugar, because my morning numbers are so high ,but I don't even keep it in the house.
And that is very discouraging when you can't even count on your doctor to help you.

@Justmeraeagain oh my 😃
This is a brilliant representation of how it often feels being diabetic !
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Picklebobble2 Thank you,I actually made the meme.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Justmeraeagain Oh it's true, many doctors are just not helpful and even incompetent. And others who don't know diabetes just think it's just what youeat.no it's not. It's stress, even hot water shower can raise her sugar. Otherssaidit too. Even PEANUT has raised some people sugar. It's really odd. So it's such an insidious disease because it often is not consistent.
And my sisters doctors have been so rude or even just say, Find a study, when they didn't know why her case is so fragile. How do WE just get in a study?? You need referral. They just put everything on you. Another doctor said , about her undiagnosed pain disorder in legs, so what do you want to take? It's like, we don't know what to take!! YOU are the doctor!!! 🫨
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@Baybreeze they don't listen .I am one of the people that cannot take glps, so ,what does my diabetic doctor ask me every time I have an appointment with her are you sure you don't want to try a glp, again?
She also keeps accusing me like I said above of eating sugar at night or high carbs because of my high sugar numbers in the morning she doesn't even discuss dawn phenomenon with me -I found that out on my own
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Justmeraeagain Wow it's like their heads are trapped in a box of black and white thinking. They rarely think out of the box and really SEE the big picture that our bodies are not just numbers. That if it's this high , your sugar, they think you must have done this or that. No it's a myriad of things when it comes to the body. Now I know why so many say they don't even go or want to go to doctors anymore 😟

I'm trying to balance a (supposedly) type 2 diagnosis....but those responsible for supplying the medication THEY put me on are trying their best NOT to supply it.

They say they want to try 'alternatives'.

And then there's the argumentative diabetic nurses from my Doctor's practice who are 'shocked' by the blood sugar test numbers (averaging 6-8) insisting i must be ignoring advice given (by 3 different clinics in 3 separate hospitals....because there's no continuity anywhere)
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Picklebobble2 Ugh we've had numerous rude nurses when dealing at hospitals. What does 6- 8 mean. ? If you have type 2 here, the goal is under 180, two hours after a meal.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
@Baybreeze see what I mean ?
Different measures !
In the UK they say a balanced blood glucose (glucose and electrolytes) measure should be somewhere between 4-6 millimols.

Anything under that and you're 'at risk' of hypoglycemia. Seizures; coma and death.
Anything above that and you're at risk of heart or liver failure etc.

What is a Dunking egg?
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Jimbo7 Dunkin, is short for a famous coffee chain in the U.S.( Dunkin Donuts) and they have egg and cheese sandwiches in addition to coffee or donuts.
