Recommended that men have no more than than 9 - 12 teaspoons of sugar a day.
Most foods we eat have added sugar so one could easily go over the limit if extra sugar is eaten.
eg; on breakfast cereal, in tea or coffee.
Still it takes many years to develop extra sugar related diabetes.
Best to reduce extra sugar intake

Sounds like two cans of coke

People consume way more than that a day. It’s still unclear whether it has serious health ramifications since it takes many years for someone to develop something like diabetes

30g a day is recommended. I've no idea how that equates to tablespoons though.

@MonaReeves86 😮How many cups do you have a day?
I used to have sugar in my coffee but wanted to cut it out so I reduced from 2 teaspoons to 1 1/2, then after a month reduced again to 1 teaspoon. Another month reduced to 1/2 a teaspoon then no sugar.
Slowly reducing the amount gets the body used to it.
