No it doesn't. My mother was born in Wales and came to Canada when she was three. She married a Canadian had 4 Canadian Children, paid Canadian taxes voted in every Canadian election. She wanted to do some international travel in her 50s since she had never left Canada in 50 years. When she applied for her Canadian passport she was informed that she was a British Subject and not a Canadian Citizen. That got her Welsh dander up and she applied and became a Canadian Citizen.

No, marriage to a Canadian does not automatically make you a Canadian! 🇨🇦

If you are an American who gets married to a Canadian, you are no further ahead than an American who applies for Canadian citizenship the old fashioned way by applying to Canada Immigration.ca

The only way to become a Canadian is to be born in Canada...

.. or to be a descendant of a Canadian citizen..

.. or if you are a citizen of a foreign country like the USA, you can be adopted by a Canadian citizen who is qualified to adopt you.

If you are an American by birth, you would automatically become a Canadian citizen if you became adopted by a Canadian who agreed to adopted you, even as an adult!
