In America's case, a two party system probably works better than a multi party system.

The reason for that is because, the more parties you have, the higher the chances that you're going to have to form a coalition at some point. That's the point where two armed people with opposing views can be dangerous... though, at the same time, I do wonder if it might be a better idea to introduce coalitions to America since Trump and Biden seem to each be unpopular for their own reasons. Maybe forcing a President and Vice-President with different agendas to agree on policies before they are signed into law could be a good thing for calming Trump down???

Then again, it could also mean that you end up with even more shutdowns and next to nothing of benefit to the people being achieved.

EVERY state must accept each political party in order to make it to the Presidential race. Not ALL the states accept every single party.

This website shows ALL the political parties in the United States, and, as you will note, there are SOME parties that are only accepted in ONE state.

The US is currently seeing its western liberal institutions implode, so the question is largely moot. It was relatively free, which is the proper measure.
