took some time but i am in the au pair program now, could have gone to canada aswell but... i wanted the warm weather south. 2 weeks so far and i like it, this will be an exiting year.
Louisiana? Wow, I bet understanding a Cajun's speech is tough. I live in Texas and it took me years to understand they were saying "Boudin" (Boo-Dan) and finally trying some. Mardi Gras is worth the trouble
Welcome! The South is where I've spent the majority of my life and it seems to be many peoples' favorite part of the country. Louisiana arguably has some of the best food on Earth!
@samueltyler2 well my hometown is somewhat famous for the spas and bathing culture... i mean its named after charles the great coming here to take baths in the healing springs
Welcome to the US! Where are you in the South? It's not just "warm weather" here; the humidity is so high, you can take a drink just by going outside and breathing.
@LeopoldBloom when central air was invented in the 70’s the population of Phoenix quickly tripled . And the Spanish (white people) settled st Augustine FLA in the 1600’s.
@AthrillatheHunt I was being facetious. But when AC became more widespread in southern Florida, that's when elderly New Yorkers started retiring there.
@Midlifemale yeah its like an exchange program kinda... i live with the family and take care of the kids and some cleaning etc and get a room and food and the opportunity to experience a different country
@chrisCA yeah its all a bit later then planned... i wanted to go last october but there wasnt any spots... now in spring there suddenly was a lot of slots free
Welcome to the states! As a user already mentioned before, the southern states are reeeeally hot and humid. I'm in Tennessee, the tip top of the south. The people here really aren't that odd. Not as bad as what you'd find going further south.
@TheLordOfHell i like the people everyone here is really nice. and they have some really great food here... no wonder everyone is a bit more... round....
