I had to look into this, because I couldn't believe KFC could be so stupid.
Apparently what happened is that KFC has a program where they send people random advertisements based on local holidays. It's all done by automation and the company probably didn't even know what Kristallnacht is.

@pianoplayingsteve When this many people choose to lie to themselves, there is definitely something worth studying.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@BohemianBabe If you think the idea of people lying to themselves is unique in scope to just Trump supporters, you need to re evaluate your view of society. Pretty much everyone bases their understanding of reality on a grand narrative that simplifies a very complex world. I know people who downright pretend the history of bolshevism and mao-ism was a made up conspiracy theory to discredit the left. In their head they cannot accept that anyone on the left ever did anything wrong, which requires lying on a much bigger scope than any other delusion I know.

this was the funniest story i've seen since the trump nuggies scandal
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@BlueVeins The 4chan troll campaigns are the funniest. Taylor Swift did an online competition in which people could vote on which fan would meet their idol. The majority of the fans were little girls, but 4chan inflated the votes of this middle aged man and made him win and the site restarted the vote count.
In 2009 they had 4Chan's creator voted Times #1 most influential person
In another instance they trolled the fact that a lot of modern feminism is man hating and proved the point by having the term #endfathersday trend on Twitter. It started with 4chan members posting the tag with their explanation, and then regular users were posting it, talking about how unneeded men are.
They also one time had Oprah Winfrey in 2008 unknowingly use the term "over 9000" and the context was "let me read something that was posted on our message board from someone who claims to be from a pedophile network, it says this "he doesnt forget, he doesn't forgive, his group has over 9000 penises" and maybe i wont say the next part.

A friend of mine has a recurring comedy bit with a character he calls Ed the Evil Ad Guy.
This sounds exactly like something Ed would do.

LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@DunningKruger You definitely need to tell your friend about this.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@LordShadowfire Most of his bits start with, "Uh, Ed, HR would like a word...."
Convivial · 26-30, F
@DunningKruger that is like a book i read once on advertising in the states... When a company got the new Toyota deal they were scratching their heads the a tag line and sunshine suggested "from those wonderful folk who bought you pearl harbour" lol

Maybe KFC meant the 99th anniversary of the Beer Hall Putsch, Nov 9, 1923...? 🤔
Slade · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell lots of groovy guys without hair deeply mourn that date!
Yulianna · 22-25, F
heilige scheisse!
supersnipe · 61-69, M
@Yulianna yeah that's what I thought!

Ignorance is no excuse.
I am surprised the German Jews didn’t make a bigger deal about that.

I heard a shower head company over there was doing an Auschwitz themed ad campaign
you have to be a halfwit to be eating that crap in the first place

Well..that's in poor taste ...literally
Convivial · 26-30, F
@SW-User i think this qualifies as an understament 🤔
Ducky · 31-35, F
Jesus... And I thought Digiorno Pizza joking about domestic violence on Twitter was the most hilariously ѕtupid shit I've seen from a food company.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
I am baffled by this, apart from anything else. Why would anyone think this a good idea?
Convivial · 26-30, F
@supersnipe you're not the only person thinking that...
DDonde · 31-35, M
@supersnipe Apparently it was an automated thing that used holidays on the calendar, which includes remembrance days
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
It’s yamaka licking good 😁
bijouxbroussard · F
Why would they imagine anyone would want to celebrate Kristallnacht ?
Convivial · 26-30, F
@bijouxbroussard and that's the real question
InOtterWords · F
The what now?
Why would they send out such a notification....or is this fake news?

Convivial · 26-30, F
@InOtterWords from memory you didn't claim it was fake. You asked... As any reasonable person would 🤗
InOtterWords · F
@supersnipe it seems to be an automated calendar that picked up on a remembrance and turned it into a celebration
bijouxbroussard · F
DDonde · 31-35, M
...Who thought that was a good idea
Edit: So after looking it up apparently it was part of an automated thing that looks at calendar holidays , which includes remembrance days

Wow. I mean, let's start with the fact that mixing meat and dairy isn't kosher. Then let's all think about the fact that this is the least offensive thing about that push notification.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@LordShadowfire all true... How to offend someone in one easy lesson
SW-User
AYFKM? 🤦♀️
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SW-User Sadly, no.
SW-User
@LordShadowfire I hope people start to see not everything needs to be left up to an automated algorithm, some things still require human oversight for now
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@SW-User Me, too.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
I saved this a few days before the night of the broken glass anniversary
Slade · 56-60, M
@pianoplayingsteve Dark, grim and excellent!
