Is it ethical to buy a product directly from China?

Please everyone keep your shirt on. I just don't know about the labor practices over there and the implications of giving them my money directly. I would like to be informed before doing it.

I do it all the time. (Full disclosure) Now If I bought it from the Amazon site instead, exactly the same pollution and labour practices and human rights violations would have occured. but I would have paid more and added US tariffs to support corrupt Americans politicians. And if I bought from a local retail outlet, there is my carbon footprint in driving to the store , plus the extra expense to be considered..Personally, I am not angry at China.. Not to mention is way quicker to get things shipped from China than America..😷

No, but we don't have much of a choice. So many western products are made in countries with few labor laws. I think we should boycott Israel because they're doing a genocide, but when it comes to countries like China and India, I don't blame anyone for buying their stuff. We gotta buy clothes.
@BohoBabe It's something I don't necessarily need but it will aid my quality of life.

And yes Israel is committing genocide.

@SinlessOnslaught Yeah, it's complicated. We don't need video games, is it ok to buy video games without knowing where they're made? The Nintendo Switch is produced in China and Vietnam, is it ok to own a Switch? We don't need it to survive.
I say we have to enjoy life, we have to cut some corners when it comes to ethnics.

Universal healthcare in china public transit. They probably treat their citizen\workers well. Look into it a bit what measures of ethical conditions worries you? Poverty levels and homelessness might be higher in the U.S.
Idk, income inequality is more pronounced in America.

Probably more fair than buying it from America. American workers are overworked, underpaid, often lack adequate benefits. And are taxed to death. Most of the rest of the world has a flat tax; no exceptions. Those that escape it are known to be criminals or politicains. Recognized at least.
Furthermore America's most recent model is to slowly reduce freedom, access to information and income while increasing exposure to vices doubIing taxes and supporting selective enforcement and favortism. Maybe "communism" has benefits compared to an aristocracy led by oligarchs?

Buyer beware! There are a lot of scammers in China. That said, I have ordered a few things from China on eBay with no problems, just a long shipping time.

There is evidence that some factories in Xingjiang province in the west of China use the forced labour of imprisoned Uighur (Chinese Muslim minority group) dissidents. If you are concerned about ethics, buy only through companies that are wholly transparent about the supply chains they use.

I think we're at a point where Chinese labour practices aren't appreciably worse than American ones.
@CountScrofula I think we're also at a point where one person on SW is intelligent enough to answer this question. 🙃
You can't really. You buy from a company in China, though. They're healthier and have longer lives than Americans. Buy whatever you need.
I defintely like some of their products
It’s unethical to systematically and incrementally give CHYNA your industry and jobs and becoming reliant on them for key items… in a nation that could very easily be self sufficient
If you do that then you support child labor
@Nunlover China? Projection.

you can buy something from china for $3 or buy it from america for $15 after they source it from the same place you were going to for $3
