The most popular range of dishes in England if not the UK generally is said to be Asian, including curries, and of course this covers a huge range. Certainly by restaurant, take-away and "ready meal" sales. It is is more difficult to know by home cooking.
Britain has many national dishes including regional specialities but we do also enjoy those of other countries such as France, Italy and Germany.
Pity the USA's contribution is pretty well only the pseudo-fashionable, up-price, down-value, Mactuckybuckburgercostalotta mass-produced stuff, far more than anything genuine and interesting from the different areas of America. Though Mexican and South American specialities are popular here.

Well in the southern U.S. where I grew up, the most popular meals are barbecued meats, coleslaw or some other gross mayo-based "salad", sweet tea, beans and cornbread, biscuits and gravy, etc. And of course, fast food.
Where I live now (southwestern U.S.) is completely different. Any Mexican food is king here- primarily tacos. But since it is really diverse here, there are restaurants of all kinds (Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Italian, French, etc). Also health food seems to be really big here too, due to the influx of Californians, so there are health food stores, sushi places everywhere, and even a fast food place that JUST sells salads.

U.S. Varies by region. Many local specialties.
New England - Lobster, seafood, coffee-milk, Johnny cakes
South - Fried chicken, cornbread, peach cobbler, others (also called Soul food)
Mid-West - meat, potatoes and gravy
South West - BBQ, chili, tex-mex
West - Mexican-Latin American and Asian influenced
Barbeque in most regions, varies in style by region.

Lobstah, and clam chowdah. I have to say in my part of the US. I think the US is far too diverse in food to pin the whole country down. Well, setting aside the fast food business anyway.
