I’m a conservative, but l can’t stand corruption in large corporations

And l can’t stand the stupidity of religion, but it’s still better to be free of government.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
You say this as though corruption is acceptable to conservatives and/or corporations. As a businessman, I can assure you that is not an accurate representation.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow When a patient tries to blame the person treating him, we call it delusional behaviour. I'm sorry you can't accept responsibility for your own acts of recklessness.
@MarkPaul You are in no position to treat anyone. You do display many symptoms of someone who should be a patient though.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It just seems like you are unraveling. You don't even try to stay on topic anymore.
You really should take talk to some of the other folks who call themselves conservatives these days.

A disappointing thread, or site, or whatever.

Just a couple of points:

(1) We cannot be 'free of government'. We can limit government, but we cannot be free of it. As that Founder said, if men were angels we would not need government. If angels governed men, we would not need limits on government.

Conservatism, like liberalism, is best thought of as a disposition, not an ideology. But ideologies are tempting: they make it easy to generate a position for the individual to take on any issue, like a mathematical formula. So many conservatives have a sort of borrowed ideology, at least on economic issues: minarchism/libertarianism. However, like all ideologies, while it has some central truths, it is not adequate for understanding and operating in the modern world.

(2) Apparently, there are some Leftists here, but none with any knowledge about the current conservative movement. It's a bit dismaying to see people proudly display their ignorance. It comes from being surrounded with like-thinkers. Take some time to read a bit about the conservative movement today. At some point I'm going to put up a list of high-quality conservative websites/publications, for those interested. (By the way, the Left is not alone in being ignorant of what their opponents think. Our side has plenty of people who know nothing about the real Left ... or rather, know things that are not true. They are not all evil people, conspirators, etc.)

(3) If you're still a teenager, well, wonderful. Good for you for being interested in politics. But ... you are still lacking in experience, and having an above-average IQ is not a substitute for experience. (It can help a bit.) Try to hold off on assuming an ideological stance until you've been out in the world a bit more. Reading can help, but it seems that today's young people, even the very bright ones, no longer read. A pity.

You need an open mind before you criticize God. Actually READ the Bible and don't listen to ignorant amoral leftist. I told you this before and hopefully this time it sinks in

And with attitudes like that, it's no wonder good companies that bring jobs to America are fleeing to China and elsewhere

@Stargazer89 If valuing the rights of individual humans over corrupt corporations makes me a radical leftist, than so be it.
Glassysky · 22-25, M
@Stargazer89 Corporations dont actually share profits which trick down to normal people let alone employees, their priorities are shareholders.

You are probably, living paycheck to paycheck, yet delusionally defending corporations, and they go to developing countries for cheap labour, there is no profit in fair wages, you gotta exploit someones time to make €

The conservative movement is a 'broad church'. The Left would like to paint us as all rednecked fundamentalists, but that's far from the truth. If, like me, you're a non-religious conservative, you might like to have a look here:

And you’ll find this site interesting as well: https://darwinianconservatism.blogspot.com/
@Doug1943 The interesting thing is having your movement hijacked and dictated by the far right and the religious extremists is obviously not a deal breaker for you guys either.
Riding a conservative ticket shouldnt make one automatically a conservative..
did you think you’d live to see so called liberals stomping on speech and freedoms?

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout No, to be honest, I didn't. I thought free speech was a core value of the (non-Communist) Left.

But actually, what we call 'Left' today has little in common with the people who were 'Left' several decades ago.

What has changed is 'Identity Politics', which has replaced 'Equality of Rights' as the Left's Pole Star. Some of the vocabulary is the same, some of the liberal sentiments (not bad ones, either) that it appeals to are the same ... but the actual political aims are quite different. (There are people on the Left, including some quite hard-core Marxists, who understand this, and mutter about -- but given the political pressures of their milieu, they can't say much out loud. I can point you to an excellent refutation of post-modernism, written by a Marxist; an excellent review of that horrible play recently which portrayed Emily Dickenson as a lesbian; and other things that could have been written by a conservative -- or any sane person.

But we've got to have government. The only argument is what is should do, and not do. Isaiah Berlin's concept of "positive and negative freedoms" is relevant here.

Management = corrupt (basically). Religion = corrupt (basically). because management = government and government = religion.
Actually if you want to be free of big government and care about freedom being a conservative makes zero sense as you kind of pointed out yourself. The far left is way more in line with those values in reality.
@Ferise1 Umm no. Just no. That has nothing to do with leftist politics at all. That is just a nonsense talking point from Fox Noise with nothing to back it up.

@Ferise1 That is the dumbest thing you have said yet. 😂
Do not listen to the Trump cultists in your circles. You are what we need.

Freedom is not free. Convenience always comes with a price.

Religion walks a thin ice made line with government in the 2020's. I wish it was not so but check local and feds- especially irs
zonavar68 · 51-55, M
We need freedom from religion not freedom of religion. We need freedom from guns not freedom of guns.

Maybe you shouldn't shop or buy. You're using the governments internet right now. Perhaps you should go live in the woods. 😂
