Oh my goodness! God is amazing. He's real and he is so loving,
merciful and compassionate. He loves us so much! It would be a long story but there's been many times when he's shown up for me, he shines brightest when I reached out when I've been hurting. The character of God is made known through Jesus. He is "the word made flesh" we get to know more about him by reading the gospels and when you invite him in prayer to be part of your life, he changes things for the better, but God is a gentleman. He doesn't barge into your life. He waits until you ask to know him.

@PatientlyWaiting25 How do you invite someone when you don't think they exist? Muslims say if you take one step toward Allah, he takes ten steps toward you. Does that make you want to convert to Islam? So why should telling me to let Jesus into my heart make me want to convert to Christianity?
If God exists, he can reveal himself to me in a way I can understand.

@PatientlyWaiting25 I don’t understand your interpretation of script. I lost individual who does not know God is not seeking God and is hostile to God. Only God can draw somebody to him and he only speaks to you if your Bible is open and you are reading it so again I say I don’t understand your interpretations of what you’re claiming. You may be saying something that is correct but I’m not interpreting what you’re saying to be spot on. I might be wrong.

What comes to mind is a quote from The God Delusion.
To add on, the God of the Old Testament is also a pyromaniacal, angry, merciless, curse-hurling, vaccicidal, aborticidal, cannibalistic slavemonger.
Couldn’t an apologist come up with a similar list of virtues, backed up by an even larger list of supporting verses? “The God of the Old Testament is … magnanimous, generous, encouraging, forgiving, charitable, loving, friendly, good-humoured, supportive of women, of homosexuals, of children, freedom-loving, open-minded, broad-minded, non-violent.”
Try and find those nice verses.
The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.

@BlueSkyKing I can think of one verse that has invited many souls to our loving God.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son that whosoever believes on him shall not perish but inherit eternal life.

@Pfuzylogic Nothing in the Old Testament? Jesus isn’t a chip of the old block, he IS the block. John 3:18 says if you don’t believe for any reason, you’re condemned. So right now, that applies to two thirds of the world population.

@BlueSkyKing In the Old Testament, Israel was a country with a unique relationship with God. They were the example for every other country, they were considered a country of priests. The intolerance of witches, homosexuality and even adultry was a part of this witness to others and the laws were known.

Isn’t it sad that people will not answer the door that Jesus knocks on. In my deepest trouble I had an advocate who encouraged me through my moments of despair. I have seen parables that God set before my eyes so that I knew I wasn’t on this journey alone. I hate to think how life would have been like if I didn’t ask God to inhabit me.

@jarrod73 I agree with some aspects of predestination, however I do stand by that there is a Holy Spirit involved. Baptism is an outside demonstration of the change but the Holy Spirit is the inward change that someone saved will welcome in.

@jarrod73 As we all should.
Looking back at how God has rescued me from every danger with quiet miracles, I see Him as my ultimate superhero.

God and I are distant relatives , who send each other a card once a year but otherwise wave each other well alone.

God is ALL powerful. He could UN-MAKE the entire earth with a thought. And yet He LOVES His own creation enough to sit back and leave us alone, for the most part. He is trying to let HIS children grow up. AND he loves mankind and each individual human enough to answer sincere prayers...in His own time, and in His own way,

I'd imagine the character creation screen of a video game.
We could adjust the settings.
Some players might prefer a god with extra magic.
Others may want to revere a robust god with extra hit points.
And the physical attributes menus are going to be fun.... ;)

On another note can see another making it all about them.
Making a heartful profession but their posts saying completely otherwise.
On your point indeed it does- do we acknowledge His glory and sovereignty even then?

@PatientlyWaiting25 Not you.

@BritishFailedAesthetic whoever it is has their own relationship with Jesus. They are struggling with sin and life in this broken world just like all of us are. They need compassion and someone who will gently show them the way back to God when they are failing.
@PatientlyWaiting25 To put it bluntly- I swing both ways so struggle with same sex attraction so you can remove any thoughts of me thinking I'm dome self righteous pharisee.
I got involved in a conversation on here involving attraction with men and got quite crude.
A Christian got involved and called me out on my BS. This was a tiny seed towards my repentance and making my same sex attraction less part of my life.

I neither praise nor condemn the idea of God. Mentioning it isn't needed to prove that a form of afterlife exists.

The greatest evidence of God within me isn't what I profess with my lips; it's what I allow my heart to become.
"......the kingdom of God is within you."
I can separate myself from God no more than a gesture can break free from the hand that made it.

An imaginary reflection of a human with exaggerated qualities of both good and evil. We created God in our own image.
