What did Jesus look like after he died and came back ?..a ghost or what ?

I am reading a book : Judas and Jesus, 2 faces of a Single Revelation
It mentions in there that people did not recognise Jesus but does not go into details.

He sacrificed his body, his flesh and blood. You can't sacrifice something and then get it back. He was resurrected in a new body just as those who will be resurrected to live forever on earth will be.

@revenant God made flesh, mind you

@revenant What happened before dying was still goes under heading a human being dies

Check out the Shroud of Turin 3d model. Once the harrowing of hell was complete the Lord Jesus return to his earthly body, receiving a glorified body, similar to the Transfiguration on the mount, of the type all in heaven will receive. Some could not recognize the LORD because like at Fatima apparitions, everyone witnessed the miracle of the sun, but some only saw colored lights, dancing sun, while Sr. Lucia saw Holy Family. Just as on the road to Emmaus the disicples could not recognize the glorified body of Christ, but only at the breaking of the bread, the transubstantiation, was the Body of Christ recognized - then The Lord disappeared in form of body and blood and entered the form of the bread and wine

When he enters the upper room passing through the locked door it symbolizes the Nativity through the closed Virgin Mother, who remained a virgin before childbirth and after childbirth and forever, only a pure vessel can contain the Son of God.

I have not read the book you mention or the current Jesuit pope's obsession with the betrayer Judas keeps a painting in his office of judas, it was said by saints if ever there was a a Jesuit pope, run for the hills!

@revenant Not imagining - actually HAPPENED!! - and obviously, as you just wondered if there is anything brighter than the sun, that means it has already happened, in parallel plane multiverse theory, which does NOT contradict the Bible. If you look at the sun you have a few milliseconds before the pain registers in your nerves, though it took a few minutes for the light to have traveled from the sun, to burn out your cones and rods, though if you looked at anything brighter than the sun the damage would be greater than caused by one sun's intensity.

@scrood my fault and I think it is...I want to be way too pragmatic..perhaps..I think words had more than one meaning and I might be wrong here. Other cultures are very pragmatic.
What would be brighter than the sun ? a nuclear explosion ?
scrood · 31-35
@revenant Many things, a flashlight on a cloudy day? Point is a literal description of the brightness, more complete than a sunny day, more than directly looking at the sun, and figuratively more powerful than the forces of nature as the Creator. Also in HEAVEN there will be no more sun or moon or stars because only the light of the LORD will be the light

By his power he made them to not recognize him
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@revenant he opened their eyes to see, now we know in part but a time comes in which we will know as we are known

It was for his glory and their edification
revenant · F
@th3r0n ok. It just mentions that he passes by many people but nobody recognises him
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@revenant yes, he was in flesh but made himself not known
val70 · 51-55
He was turned shiny white instead of just plain white. Nasty whites should just drop off the planet. I don't like nasty whites.

On a more serious note, I'm afraid that the author of your book was overthinking again. Yes, God's design was for Jesus to die on the cross but there wasn't a need for Judas to spiritually change anything about himself for Jesus's faith to become real. Judas, I'm afraid, stayed as much human as you and me. Not shiny yet
val70 · 51-55
@revenant Yes, but there wasn't a church then either as group to put that label on. It's like one researches ones own genes instead of family tree

@val70 temples

@revenant no, Church
Pfuzylogic · M
What did it take for Mary and the other apostles to recognize him?

Think hard because it wasn’t his initial physical appearance.
revenant · F
@Pfuzylogic Oh I AM HE..but he did not say it in English.
Pfuzylogic · M
@revenant
There wasn’t anything in English in the Bible. I think the languages were Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek but even with languages on Pentecost when the cloves of flames (Holy Spirit) were above the apostles heads; they were able to speak all of the languages for those hearing!
revenant · F
@Pfuzylogic yes and that what makes it so mysterious and intriguing..to me anyway.
bookerdana · M
According to Orthodox tradition He had a Resurrected Body that could walk through walls yet Thomas can feel His Hands wounds...this is what we will have ,He is the first Fruit
revenant · F
@bookerdana and how would you describe that first fruit ?
bookerdana · M
@revenant Ever hear of the preternatural gifts? Many of the Saints had them,Padre Pio is claimed to have the gift of bi-location
revenant · F
@bookerdana no and I just googled the term. That is very interesting ! I am going to look into that, thank you !

Most people did recognize Him. Some didn't. It seems that He could conceal his identity to some and reveal it to others at will.
revenant · F
@hippyjoe1955 on one occasion he looks ghostlike to one of his disciple
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@revenant and on another He ate with them and told one of them to touch His wounds.
revenant · F
@hippyjoe1955 very intriguing

Heard this the other day. However the story is more than led to believe for sure.
Whoever the “one” that fulfilled the narrative
revenant · F
@Heavenlywarrior I would think so also
NorthernBear · 51-55, M
Not like a ghost but he did turn white. That's why he's white in all those paintings.
acpguy · C
He didn't die as he went on to India. Pure politics.
revenant · F
@acpguy speculations around that yes
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
Full of nail holes....obviously.
revenant · F
@KiwiBird 🤣
I maybe incorrect. But I think people who truly believed him only recognised him and saw him.
