Trusting the LORD is easy for me because i believe He is perfect and Good..
Bad things that happen to me in this world are to me just background noise because i know i live in a faulty fallen world where people who know good and evil choose to use evil to gain material advantage over others..
So i do not take bad events as personal attacks of God upon me.. I just see them as random acts that come to me because the world is faulty.. Trusting in the LORD gives me real hope that no matter how bad this current situation is, i have hope for a far better life in eternity..
As for the Bible i trust that is truth and the recorded will of God.. Now there is a gulf between what is in the Bible and what i understand.. Some things in the Bible i do not understand.. But i TRUST that God will cause me to understand what i need to understand..
The Way of salvation for example is Very easy to understand.. that is critically important.. But knowing other information in the Bible is not critically important to ones Eternal Destiny..

I'm no expert but I think u you should be guided more from compass inside, check with your heart how an act would make u feel if u were on the receiving end of it (empathy) and nothing wrong in discussing with the right authority or experienced senior.

@Om2014
Let me give you an example:
Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and not with your own understanding"
I believe that when you resent me this, you wrote it in a different version, so my question is, how do you understand this message? Because to me, I understand it as "Trust in the Lord no matter what happens because you might not understand why you are experiencing what you are experiencing right now, but the Lord knows why you are experiencing what you are experiencing, and He is telling you to trust in Him because His way is better"

This sounds all good, if it's your understanding I wud say stick with it. Idk however what interpretation other guy gave which confused u.

Online you will find every opinion about everything. For believing Christians, especially young ones like yourself, it's best to learn within a fellowship with some historical roots. First rule: know what the Bible says for yourself, not what someone tells you it says. Once you've got that you're in a place to discuss with people about possible interpretations. They will always be Christians who tell you you're absolutely wrong alongside those who will convince you that you must never deviate from the views you were taught initially. Then there are those who will tell you that there is only one way to interpret scripture (guess who's that would be?) and make you feel guilty because you don't agree with them. Read, pray and listen to what God's telling you.

@JesusIsWithMe I don’t remember advising you on any scripture, but your understanding of this would be the same as mine.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@FreddieUK the reason why I understand it the way I understand it is because I just process it the way I read it
exexec · 70-79, C
I avoid online religious discussions like the plague, and one of the reasons is that there are right and wrong ways to interpret the Bible. Be careful.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@exexec thank you. I don't know how this person is dictating the way I believe the scripture 😭

To understand, PRAY. Ask God for a perfect understanding of the Bible verses you are questioning. God will ALWAYS help you.
4meAndyou · F
@JesusIsWithMe And...it's okay to walk AWAY from people who make you feel uncomfortable.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@4meAndyou true. I actually have so many questions at this point
4meAndyou · F
@JesusIsWithMe That last verse...to ME it says...love God. Love him completely. Give Him your heart and your life, and there isn't any NEED to pick that apart with your mind.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
I don't know why you're saying that God's word (the Bible) is wrong, but I do know that there are different versions of it
gregloa · 61-69, M
Of course, don’t let the world guide you. Repent, obey Jesus commands, mature in His Word, and the Holy Spirit will guide you. Be careful of false teachings from the world. Such things are not from the Holy Spirit. You will know them by their fruit. Bear good fruit.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@gregloa thank you

@jshm2 Very generalised statements about a series of connected writings and I’m afraid you have missed the central message of Christ’s message if you think his interpretation of Jewish Scripture (the Old Testament) was anything other than a rebuke of it’s misunderstanding by the then establishment. That’s why they wanted him out of the way. There are various translations of the Bible but a few agreed original text. I would challenge you to look at other accepted historical figures of that time and before and tell me how many contemporary texts mention them.

"In our reasonings concerning matter of fact, there are all imaginable degrees of assurance, from the highest certainty to the lowest species of moral evidence. A wise man, therefore, proportions his belief to the evidence.”

There are definitely right and wrong ways to believe the Bible, but this guy was talking about the way he feels. Nothing about biblical authority
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP that's what I feel too
22Michelle · 70-79, T
Well if you start from the point that god wrote the bible than you're totally wrong.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@22Michelle It is indeed. It is not the view of mainstream Christian scholars and you won't find that formula in any historical Christian creeds.
22Michelle · 70-79, T
@FreddieUK Not interested, it's all made up shit.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@22Michelle That's fine. You are as entitled to your view as I am to mine. But we are on a discussion forum.
