Maybe because you do cherry pick from it in order to make it as bad as you conceivably make it.

@BlueVeins Science is the one demanding cause. Sadly it runs out of cause when it comes to the widely accepted big bang. There is no cause for that. Nothing does not explode and become everything. Then there is the small problem of life and life forms. Reducing life to mere chemistry doesn't fit the facts and then there is the problem that the chemistry doesn't work either. The odds of all the right atoms falling into all the right places at exactly the right time is in the region of 10 E 42,000. IOW impossible. However that is simply the chemicals. Now about that strange energy we call life. The difference between a dead cell and a living cell can not be determined by chemical analysis. They may be identical chemically but one of them is living and the other is dead. Hmmmm.. Once again the 'natural did it' hypothesis fails completely.

@hippyjoe1955 It's true that we don't know what happened before the Big Bang, but that doesn't really mean there's no cause. I mean, we're already back 13.7 billion years so I think we're doing pretty well overall in that respect. Besides, no matter how far back we're able to figure stuff out, there'll always be something more that's unknown causing it, at least if there's an infinite regression of events.
The odds of all the right atoms falling into all the right places at exactly the right time is in the region of 10 E 42,000. IOW impossible.
That number sounds suspiciously like it's made up, but even if it's real, that's miles from being impossible. If there are infinite planets & the probability of life arising on each of them is 10^41,001, then the probability of life arising somewhere in the universe is 1 by the Law of Large Numbers.
Now about that strange energy we call life. The difference between a dead cell and a living cell can not be determined by chemical analysis. They may be identical chemically but one of them is living and the other is dead.
I mean, living cells do any number of things that dead cells can't, especially synthesizing ATP. It probably is true that a cell is so complicated that it's impossible to take a 'snapshot' of it, so to speak, with modern technology and determine whether or not it's viable, but that's moreso a testament to the aforementioned complexity, not some kind of mysterious vital energy.

@BlueVeins There is a Cause the only Cause that fits the criteria. That is the whole point of the exercise. The physical can not explain itself and it certainly can't explain the metaphysical such is thought and consciousness. The astounding complexity in everything we see shouts creation not evolution. Evolution can't even get started. As the unbeliever Hoyle noted it is like someone tinkered with the universal constants in order to make physical life possible. Then there is the small matter of recycling. How did life survive when its own waste is deadly to itself? Put a bit of yeast into a vat of grape juice and guess what happens. The yeast multiplies at a furious rate as the juice provides all it needs but the alcohol the yeast produces then kills the yeast. Hmmmm So according to evolutionists we have a simple life form in a mud puddle. How long should we expect it to live as its waste multiplies and chokes it to death? Can it evolve fast enough to make some other life form to clean up its waste? If the evolutionists are correct there simply isn't enough time for this to happen. The life form 'evolves'' and shortly thereafter dies because of its own waste. So much for life. What we see in real time is that each living creature is part of a huge recycling program where one life form's waste is another life form's food. Life is constantly generating and recycling waste. Amazing complexity that evolution simply can not explain.

Wow, absolutely embarrassing. Moses would beat them with a staff if he saw someone completely falsifying his teachings like that.

btw, link to full article. The contextual meaning you're arguing is 100% correct.

Leave religious people to thier bubble I say

So long as they arent pushing it on kids or shoving it down my nose
Alison · 18-21, F
@hippyjoe1955 Sure we do *laughs*
At least its about fun stuff like orgies and sex
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Alison If you think that is fun...... Been there done that and it is boring as hell.
Sharon · F
@Alison The problem is that christians do try to force it onto others, especially on children and vulnerable adults.
Sharon · F
Don't you know you're only allowed to post quotes from the bible that supports the christians' narrative?
Someone is arguing with you, and I cannot tell who, as they have both of my accounts blocked.
Pfuzylogic · M
What is so difficult about the concept of slavery?
bugeye · 26-30, F
@Pfuzylogic i dunno. seems straight forward to me.
Pfuzylogic · M
@bugeye
There was slavery with the Jewish community if someone got in debt and couldn’t repay. The good thing was that no matter what the land of someone enslaved always came back to them after 50 years. If you don’t know the Holy Bible you would miss that.
When something is repeated often some people will believe that it is true.
meJess · F
Hands up if you claim the bible was literally written by God?

Ok good we all accept it was written by men with their own views and biases.

Do you take Lord of the rings literally, or do you look for meaning, and remember how people were when it was written?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@meJess It was written by men as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Nice try though. Any further nonsense you would like to spew? I once was asked how I determined which books I believed belonged in the canon of Scripture since the Orthodox and Catholics have more books in their Bible than do the Protestants. I said I determine it by the Voice in the book. There is a huge difference between the book of Isaiah and Bel and the Dragon in the voice of the one speaking.
Sharon · F
@meJess The Lord of the Rings is presented as fiction; the bible is presented as irrefutable fact.
@Sharon Which is why I prefer to use The Three Musketeers and Twenty Years After as my example when discussing the bible. Alexandre Dumas wrote two books which contain enough historical people and events that even now, scholars argue over whether or not the main characters existed. It certainly appears that D'Artagnan was a real person, whereas when I was growing up, it was always assumed he was fictional.

If we were to hold those books to the same standards to which Christians hold the Bible, the fact that they contain historical places, events, and people would be enough to ensure that they are always found in the nonfiction section.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
OMG, I love church. I hate non relegious people.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
gotta love it when people try to condemn Christians with out of context scripture, especially when they don't know the difference between old testament and new testament....🤔
bugeye · 26-30, F
@wildbill83 oh then by all means what is the correct context for the above quotes?

also what difference does old n new testament really make? should we not follow the old testament?

Torsten · 36-40, M
what you've never beat your slave with a rod before? come on now 😆
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Torsten Or ever owned a slave.
@Torsten Why? What have you heard? That was in the context of a loving relationship involving chains and ball gags.

@LordShadowfire That sounds like Carazaa. She promised to block me and, thus far 🤞, she's kept that promise. She'd blocked me several times before but then unblocked when she realised I wouldn't see her "godly posts".
@Sharon That's her. I try to go easier on her these days, because I never see her talking trash on my pagan posts. So I will give her that much.
