Should we be utilizing the military to perform simple assistive tasks such as walking perimeters?

Twice on active duty I supported the secret service protecting two presidents. They have the training and I never lost a President on my watch.
@4meAndyou thank you. My honor and privilege to know you and be teachers pet. 😊

This probably isn’t going to be well received by many but oh well. The biggest issue USSS has right now is its DEI hiring priorities. The former head who resigned in shame had a stated goal of doubling the number of female agents by next year. In a job that is that vital, the protection of a President and former Presidents, it is irresponsible to think that way. You hire the best of the best. You don’t lower standards as they have done to hire more women for the sake of hiring women. You set a standard for all applicants and training and qualifications after hire. If a woman meets those hire her. If not she can apply somewhere else.

Yes! I have been on three different Presidential security details as a military back up to the secret service. What I know for fact is that only the current sitting president gets the "real" secret service, and the non-seated -presidential candidate gets the customs, IRs, border patrol and other pools the secret service can pull from in times of campaigns. Their training and skill sets are terrible and most of them hate being pulled and mandated to be the backup secret service members.

That is why the president flies on Airforce One (US Airforce pilots and crew with fighter plane escorts) Marine One Helicopter (Marien pilots and crew). And we were added to test or back up for the seated US president that you the citizen never knew we were there as US Army.

@4meAndyou Just did what I was paid to do.

I shook G.W. Bushes hand and watched him pray over injured soldiers. Pay was enough.

@WillaKissing Still...and this is true for Sojournersoul as well...the military chooses very special, dependable people to guard the Presidents. I can't help but admire you both for your trustworthiness and the attributes that caused you to be chosen.

@4meAndyou I wanted to send you a PM of a military medal and letter of commendation from my Army career to show I am not an Armchair cowboy. It says I cannot forward that to you util you reply to my PM. Just an FYI
How does a leftwing lunatic from Hawaii get an AK-47 in Florida, serial number filed off, along with Trump's location for an unscheduled golf game? Multiple parties involved including at least one person inside Trump's circle.

The question would still boil down to money. Who pays for the military to come out and help? The state? The Federal Government? If the federal government had the extra money they could just hire more secret service personnel. Activating the National Guard for something like this is something some states may not be able to afford. A lot of states are still trying to recover their budgets from activating the guard for all the riots a couple of years ago.

@djjohnson SS says that they have a LOT of money, and they don't NEED more money. They just need competent personnel, and they can't recruit them fast enough.
RedGrizzly · 26-30, F
They should. I speculate using the military would be a lot safer than the SS right now. It's obvious there's a coup going on since nobody is taking shots at our current president and VP....only their political rival so the military instead of using SS and other three letter agencies is the best bet. Fight with your vote, not on the streets.

If you vote for other, please explain your plan below in comments.

@Musicman
I like where last time he had his own security people. I personally think he should go back to that.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou I voted other. We don't need yet another federal agency involved. Staff up the USSS, but first clean house. I suspect we have too many people in power at USSS who are simply wrong for their job. Time to clean house, eliminate the politics, and focus on competency over diversity. The only way that will happen, is to elect DJT.

@carpediem IF he stays alive long enough.

They're using DEI - putting unqualified people in the Secret Service.
They’re under something… influence
