Do you think there's something thats unforgivable?

Moreso to other Christians, but I'm curious about anyone's opinion.

As Christians our entire belief system is that everyone deserves a chance at forgiveness (apologies, poorly phrased) ....but do you think there's a sin that you would consider truly unforgivable?

If so, where is that line for you?

(I know the Bible outwardly states there are like one or sins that seem to be stated as already unforgivable, but this is more me curious about personal perspectives......)

@Ohplease47 not gonna lie, I'm not American, so that took me a few seconds to work out what you meant lol
I eat shellfish and wear mixed fabric clothes. In the bible, there is no forgiveness without blood.

our entire belief system is that everyone deserves forgiveness

I'm afraid you have a fundamental misunderstanding of Christianity and forgiveness. The Bible is quite clear. All I have fallen short. The wages of sin is death. No one 'deserves' forgiveness. Forgiveness comes by the grace of God alone. It is his desire that we live with Him and according to His ways, but he knows we can't on our own. Hence Jesus' death on the Cross which enables forgiveness if we accept that he took what should've been ours. Jesus had much to say about our reception of forgiveness causing us to be forgiving people.

Christians should be forgiving. No one deserves anything except death. However, we can point to the good news that there is a possibility of complete forgiveness before God for those who want it.

As for a line where I cannot forgive other people? In theory of course there shouldn't be one. But I would be lying if I said that I didn't find some things very hard to forgive. My best remedy then is to remember what I've been forgiven for and apply that to others. By the way, personal forgiveness is not the same as believing that people don't have to face the legal consequences of their actions. We have to have laws which keeps us safe, but we don't have to have personal bitterness towards those who have done us wrong. That would be self-inflicted poison.

Hope that helps.

@FreddieUK my apologies, my point was that everyone deserves a chance at forgiveness, it was a phrasing error, I do already understand.

In the end, this wasn't meant to be anything serious, just curious if people would see anything as truly unforgivable

@GeminiDuality You're forgiven. 😀 Thanks for the clarification.

Well, disrespecting or denying the Holy Spirit is pretty unforgiveable, or at least the Bible says so.

Dissing God...that's absolutely horrible.

We don’t deserve forgiveness. It is God’s love, his kindness ( going the extra mile for someone), his mercy, and above all his grace, which rescues us.
GeminiDuality · 31-35, M
@Ohplease47 the way I see it, the Bible states we prevail through salvation due to God's grace and forgiveness, the challenge is exactly that, to not let it go to our heads, to follow Christ's example, because while we are saved through Christ, it doesn't mean everything hasnt been recorded and documented

@peterlee yeah sorry, I meant to say a chance at forgiveness, but forgot to add all the words 🤣

@GeminiDuality I take a view that everyone will be able to make a choice. Calvinists do not see it that way, believing in election.
Isn’t there like 7 unforgivables.. 🤔

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout "Definition of the Unforgivable Sin

The term “unforgivable sin” typically refers to “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit,” an offense described in the Gospels as one that will never be forgiven. Mark 3:28-29 records Jesus saying, “Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they may utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.” This teaching also appears in Matthew 12:31-32 and Luke 12:10, underscoring its importance and gravity."

How can anyone deliberately harm a baby? I'm sorry if I may have missed the point of the post but that's my position.

@rinkydinkydoink no no , I get your point, that's an understandable perspective, the Bible does speak quite harshly about those who abuse children, and those who lead the young astray
