Women To Remain Silent?

“As in all the churches, the women are not permitted to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law also says. If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.” 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 What part of this do you not understand? Just curious.
That was Old Testament law. What part of that do you not understand. Do you always erase people's answers that you don't like? Some men use that verse to be abusive and insist that their wife be "submissive" when actually they just want to be abusive to their wife. You sound narcissistic. No woman needs to bow down to you or worship you. You've taken that out of context to meet your own selfish needs. That's sick. If a man loves a woman, he will treat her as Christ loved the church, and that was with all the love and respect one could have.

@LadyGrace N.W.A.R. (Not Worthy of a Response).

Done.
@JSul3 That's fine.
@JSul3 You should know that God doesn't kill innocent babies. Those sweet innocent babies that did die, bless their hearts, were not His fault....all of them went to heaven. And I'm sure it breaks God's heart that you blame him. That's all I have to say.

The bible also says

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:23)

Yet the average christian worships billionaires at least as much as they worship their god.

What part of that didn't you (plural) understand?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@ChadJNSD Yeah, so much that he's openly threatening to escaping to France lmao

Not only that one. Musk, Bezos et al. are all worshipped by so called "christians" who ignore that like the second half the bible is 90% about condemning the rich
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
@Elessar Its not his money that we worship. It’s his stand on the issues, the movement in general.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@ChadJNSD Yeah, which is basically the exact opposite of anything Jesus preached. "Christians" indeed lmao
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
Why anyone would think silencing women is a good idea. Their perspective, knowledge and experience can bring value to a discussion. I think many of these types of rules were created because a man was once made to look a fool and he didn't know how to hand his woman.
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
@ChadJNSD
I will concede that in general women are more likely to express their emotions and do tend to be more emotional (gotta love hormone swings!). However, considering the female population makes up about half of the human population it seems unwise to have shut down half of the intellect, creativity, problem solving and ideas. But then, humans do not always do the wise or good thing. History is proof of that.
@ChadJNSD
Because men are more solid and women lean more toward hysterics and emotion.
Remind me: Is it men or women who have started almost every war in recorded history?🤔
What is the percentage of perpetrators of violent crime when broken down into men and women?
lol rather hysterical and emotional, if you ask me.

Men wanted women silent because it's easier to control a person when you take away their voice.
Simple as that.
It's the same reason the Taliban are trying to prevent women from getting education.
It's control, not because women are inherently less capable, thoughtful or reliable.

Or do you think the Taliban are on to something?

@Pikachu
Exactly😁

Most christians probably haven't even read the garbage book they claim to derive their morals from

@Emosaur Are you familar with the Milgram experiment?

It's the same effect with religious people. Instead of justifiyng violent actions by listening to a percieved expert or person with higher social standing they just justify it by appealing to their God.
Yeah it's just right-wing ideology.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@Gloomy there were many variations of this experiment. The most encouraging output was when the person who was being experimented on witnessed someone else refusing to electrocute the actor, they themselves refused at over 90%.

Why have you missed out ‘of the saints’ from the first phrase of the first sentence.

Also where did you get those commas from? New Testament Greek does not have some.

On a personal note, I’m glad you read the Bible. But try to read it as a whole, instead of a couple of sentences. Within twenty years of Jesus death women acted as leaders in certain church groups: prophets, teachers and evangelists. Paul recognises their work as deacons and fellow workers, and even greets one, as an outstanding apostle.

You will see this when you get to Romans 16.7,
16.1-2, 16.6,16.12. Philippians 4:2-3. Col4.15
Acts 2.25,21.9.

In Christ there is neither male nor female.
@JSul3 You're just WRONG. You must be one of those men who are abusive to their wife or girlfriend. Totally narcissistic.
JSul3 · 70-79
@LadyGrace LOL! You had best read my comment again.

I am a full supporter of women's rights!
I abhor idiots like Copeland, Jeffress, etc.
@JSul3 That ruling was just made, and I didn't see it, but the Poster was misinterpreting women's role as a wife. THAT'S what I was addressing.

Yes, there are women that do preach, but I did not say I am for it. Reading through Scripture, a few passages stand out that directly speak to the role of women in the church. These passages are the foundation for the conclusion that women cannot be lead pastors in churches. I agree with you on that.
jackieash · 26-30
I understand it all and reject iall of it as bullshit, just like Abrahamic religions as a whole. Why should women be silent?
jackieash · 26-30
@Adstar it would be better if the men were not allowed to speak. If churches were used for quiet personal meditatiion rather than a guy in fancy dress spouting at a bunch of like minded zombies. That'd be great.
@jackieash people like authority and directions
jackieash · 26-30
By people, you nean sheep.
@jackieash sheeple!

But on a more serious note we are animals and we act like other animals, in this case sheep

Just look at the 900 people who died at the direction Jim Jones

Even Buddhism which encourages meditation and self reflection has a copious amount of direction involved

Just shows the bible is full of shit.

women have alot of input.while the west was being settled,women were not allowed to own land and the man handled all finances.women could have been better planners.

I’m Jewish, and my congregation has a lesbian rabbi. We love her.
ChadJNSD · 31-35, M
@RedBaron That is very sick. Not being Jewish but the lesbian rabbi thing.
RedBaron · M
@ChadJNSD Who are you to judge? Rabbi Carter was duly ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the most reputable and respected seminary for conservative Judaism.

She is a warm, loving person and a learned and thoughtful spiritual leader who has been in our congregation for 23 years.

She is much more qualified to be our rabbi than you are to judge her.

BTW, our wonderful cantor, Judy Ribnick, is lesbian as well.

You can be sure that numerous ministers, priests, and other Christian clergy are homosexual as well.

Not what it means. It's spiritual not carnal. That's why so many misinterpret it. It is talking about her teaching or usurping authority over the man, Of course she can speak.

@SW-User Tell that to the Nuns....and that is only 1 example.
JSul3 · 70-79
Isn't the scripture grand? /s

It's a matter of biblical commitment, a commitment to the scripture that unequivocally, we believe, limits the office of pastor to men. It is an issue of biblical authority. Geoff Bennett: And there are other SBC members who note that the Roman Catholic Church also does not allow women to serve as pastors or priests.

Southern Baptists say no to women pastors, uphold expulsion of Saddleback megachurch. Congregants arrive at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif. The megachurch founded by Rick Warren was one of two churches affected by a vote Wednesday at the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting.
JSul3 · 70-79
All religions are male dominate, female submissive at least, slave at the extreme.

Men are responsible for more deaths, rapes, and wars.

Women nurture...men destroy.
Ontheroad · M
What the actual hell! Talk about a lot of B.S.
I've never been to a church like that.
@Spoiledbrat Neither have I, but I've heard of those cults that practice that.
Scribbles · 36-40, F
Yeah, Fuck that. 🤣😂
Wow, this should get more downvotes than 'bomb Canada'..

What do you not understand of being a sensitive, caring person?
That's how people used to think though. It doesn't bother me.
